Re: favorite baits to texas rig
I don't fish many t-rigs in open water, if I do it's a Zoom 10'' worm for sure. Around heavy cover though the Havoc Pit Boss is a good one with a 1/4oz tungsten. It has a lot of action and is very soft and durable. If I need a little less action in the cooler months I use the Missile Baits D-bomb wh...

Re: how to remove an E-clip
I posted this in the other thread but Ill put it here to. If you happen to lose one, go to your local hobby/r-c shop. They have multi-packs of e-clips with 5 or so different sizes in the same pack for about $3. I think they have about 10 of each size to. Good deal and good to have multiple sizes on ...

Re: C clip removal and re-install
Take a small flathead screwdriver and fit it in 1 of the c-clip notches and twist, very simple.Using a small pick works well to but can scratch the reel frame. Doing this inside a plastic bag/Ziplock helps keep the clip from going airborne. I use needlenose to put the clips back on. Also, if you eve...

Agreed, that's what makes that rod great is its the best of both worlds.Revofisher wrote:Sounds like a good one its hard to find that compromise of give in a rod that will work the bait properly but still have a good landing ratio.

Re: Shimano Metanium XG upgrade question
My favorite upgrade was the semper if swept CF handle but I would mess with the bearings other then a quick flush. I just bought a shallow spool for it also as I posted picks in the shimano thread in the show and tell section What are your thoughts on the shallow spool performance? X2 and what lure...

Re: Shimano Metanium XG upgrade question
I have used Boca OS bearings in one and the stock ARBs in the other to compare and for 3/8oz and below the Bocas were definitely better but anything over 3/8 there's no performance gain. Have tested this quite a bit and not enough difference to justify the purchase of new bearings even though they a...

Re: Shimano Compre - Tip breaking
I would try sending this one to Shimano then, costs a little for shipping(less than $20) but you would be getting some pretty new stock and it should be a good one.

Re: Learning curve from Shimano to Daiwa?
[ I assume the different brake blocks have to be ordered from Shimano. What is involved in switching them? Wouldnt even bother until you are able to use just one brake very well then change to lighter ones This is true, although it could help to have three different sizes once he gets brakes down t...

Re: Shimano Metanium XG upgrade question
I have an XG and a HG and the only thing I would do is flush the stock bearings, they will fly after this. Maybe a shallow spool if you are throwing light lures, if not you are good to go. I also changed the handle to a Hedgehog carbon fiber and put on the Power Septon grips like on the E series bec...

Re: Learning curve from Shimano to Daiwa?
I don't know if it is because I learned on Daiwas, but I have to set my brakes higher than others do on my centrifugal/dual brake reels. I normally run 4 brakes on with my Curado 51E, Lews TP and Carbonlites. Seems everyone else is running 2 brakes or less turned on. . Man, 4 brakes on a 50e? 1 may...

Re: Shimano Compre - Tip breaking
Are you returning them to the same store you bought them or sending the to Shimano? If you're returning them to the store I would go somewhere else or send them in. This may be part of the problem you're having with them like stated above, people abusing them in store. If you're sending them back th...

Re: Curado from Shimano to read
Really love the Shimano clarus, compre, and crucial rods.. I hope academy has them for sale soon! I have multiple reels with no rods for them  Does your Academy carry these? The one here does not carry any Shimano rods, or really any nicer rods for that matter. I think the best rod they carry i...
