Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
What I read was "fish in the rain once and your Zillions will go geary and you'll need to disassemble and lube them every time that happens". Nice. A single data point does not indicate a "trend"/reality/etc. My new Zillions have been in the rain, accidently dropped/retrieved in the water, etc. wit...

Re: Knocking sound from baitcasters
So it seems that the knocking basically does not happen when under load. As soon as the line gets through my fingers and I lose tension, I start getting knocking. As hoohoorjoo said, if I hold the handle in place, I can rock the spool back and forth and hear what sounds like the same noise but a low...

Re: Knocking sound from baitcasters
Uneven spool pin? Pinion bearing? Gremlins? Angry machine spirit? It is a brand new reel and also I am not a reel mechanic so I have no idea how to even verify those things. Do you feel it once per handle rotation or multiple times? You can start isolating based on that. I've found a spec of dirt o...

Knocking sound from baitcasters
Hey all, I've searched for this online many times but can't seem to find much about it compared to other sounds people mention (like screeching or clicking). I've noticed that on cheaper baitcasters, or ones that have seen a lot of use, they make a knocking noise when reeling fast (usually to retrie...

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
I got a surprise in my mailbox the other day... I thought the next shipment to TTT wasn't going to be until May, and I didn't get a shipping notification, so I was truly surprised when it showed up. I eagerly opened up the box to find my first Daiwa reel, the beautiful, low-profile, almost Shimano-l...

Re: What's your rod lineup for this year
While my rod arsenal has grown, it's still fairly small compared to some of you. Spinning Shimano Zodias 6'9" MLF (16lb braid- Panfish/Bass/Walleye- small moving baits, drop shot, Ned, slip bobbin, vertical jigging) Kistler Helium3 7'0" MLF (10lb braid- Bass/Walleye- slip bobbin, vertical jigging......

Re: 2020 Zodias
I got my warranty replacement today. They replaced my 6'8MLMF (ZDS268ML) with the new 6'9MLF (ZDS69MLA). The new 6'9 has to be a different blank entirely. It doesn't feel nearly as whippy, it's a bit stiffer and is probably more for jigs/worms/dropshot than moving baits which is what I loved the pr...

Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
I checked 'em out today too. The 7'1MHF casting balances about an inch in front of the lock nut with a Bantam on it, which is just a little further than I would have hoped for (for some reason it's the same spot that someone showed with their 6.2oz Alphas). Then I put the store's Ultegra on the 6'10...

Re: Frog Rod that’s not 7’
JL - I just thought of another really good option to consider! The Megabass XXX Mat Bucker Type-L Check that one out as an option for a powerful, shorter frog rod! The description says it's good for pulling fish out of light cover... how light are we talking? I "upgraded" from my Helium3 7'HXF to a...

Re: Frog Rod that’s not 7’
Are you looking for something shorter or something longer? Shorter Meant to say under 7’ Gotcha. No experience here as I found it hard to find a lightweight, high power rod under 7'. I think my 6'9MHXF Helium3 could do it but not in the thick weeds we get in Minnesota in the summer. Even my 7'HXF w...

Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
Wow they look tip heavy I dunno, seems about normal for a SC rod. With a light 6.2oz reel, yeah... if you throw a heavier reel on them, like a Bantam, you'll get some better balance, for an overall higher weight of course. That 7'1MHF looks like it'd balance pretty close to the lock nut with a Bant...
