Re: SLX XT
Compressed air... Do yourself a favour and get it looked at, than pushing stuff further in and into other areas. Honestly I don't think it's worth time and money to get it looked at. I don't use it much. Good call on the compressed air though, it is a pretty tight area so it likely won't expel anyt...
Re: SLX XT
You shouldn't have to mod a reel right out of the box. My SLX XT XG was good at first but I did something to make it geary and loud. Maybe it's just dirty. It's quite noisy on the cast (sort of buzzing like I hear from cheaper reels on YouTube). I will probably try some compressed air on it everywhe...

Re: Kistlers warranty and the curse of 2020
Sorry to hear about your broken rods. I broke a Zodias a few months ago while it was in a rod holder. I caught the line while casting a jerkbait and the rod yanked forward and snapped in the split grip. I was heartbroken. I haven't sent it in yet because I am moving soon and want to make sure it get...

Re: Which one?
I've read that some NRXs are pretty tip heavy, in which case I'd see the advantage of a Bantam to help balance it out. I know having a lighter reel would make for a lighter combo overall so it probably wouldn't feel that tip heavy in practice, but I love the feel of a lightweight combo that is prett...

Re: Shimano Expride 7'2" H or 7'3" ExtraHeavy?
I got the 7'3XH for frogging around pads and milfoil and it does exactly what I wanted. It's pretty damn stout and loads up when dragging a 2 pounder through thick mats. It casts my 1/2-3/4oz frogs pretty far so it's not a pool cue that sucks at casting. I haven't flipped around heavy vegetation wit...

Re: Strenght and power lift : Kistler helium 3 vs zbone
If you're going to be boat flipping big fish, I'd go with the Helium3, as it will hurt less if it breaks, and it might be less inclined to break because it's a lower modulus blank than the Zbone. At least, that is how I understand it. I've got 4 Helium3s and have shore fished with them, sticking the...

Re: New Curado 70 mgl K
I will be pairing this new XG 70 with a GLX 842 for an all-around medium rod. Should be a blast for weightless senkos. Personally I am not a fan of the color scheme. It is not going to match most rods very well. The older 70 would look good on a much wider variety of rods. It will match the IMX pro...

Re: New Curado 70 mgl K
The pictures on the TT preview are the same as Shimano's website which shows a green hue to the reel in most of them, but the final photo looks like a Curado DC with a dark green drag star, which I suspect is how it actually looks, and the rest of the photos just have a white balance issue.

Re: Shimano reel names
Maybe they figured the fishing crowd would be very polarized about such a "classy" or "snooty" name and thought it'd be a good marketing opportunity. Based on the forum threads I've seen here and elsewhere I'd say it was a smart decision!

Re: Stradic CI4+ on clearnce...new model coming?
Yea looks like a retro ci4 to me. Certainly intriguing but for the price I might rather get a twinpower for 70 more Where are you seeing price? The TwinPower is $400, whereas FishUSA shows the Vanford at ~$240. The TwinPower is a lot heavier as well, kind of a different reel. I tried 2 different on...

Re: Stradic CI4+ on clearnce...new model coming?
Here ya go fellas. Kinda looks like the older Stradic Ci4. http://fish.shimano.com/content/fish/northamerica/us/en/homepage/Shimano_Product_Page.P-VANFORD_F.html Whoa, just saw there's a 500 model, and they even call out ice fishing on the product page. Kind of a spendy panfish reel but dang! Pretty...

Re: I don't use spinning gear at all. Do you?
I used spinning reels my entire life (being an almost non-fisherman) until last year when I dove headfirst into fishing and found out I really love it. I had to try baitcasters, and found out out how much more enjoyable they are when making tons of casts, using heavier lures, and for placing baits n...

Re: Expride 7' light spinning
May I ask what size reels you guys are strapping to the 7' light plus? 1000 size or 2500 balance it out the best?? Thanks :D I don't have the 7'L+ but I have the 6'8ML Zodias and it balances just a little bit above the lock nut with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500. I'd guess even with L+ power, at 7', you'd ge...
