Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Very nice trout JD, and topwater just makes it that much sweeter. How long was she? We are in full on trout mode right now, catching some gators very shallow in the bayous right now. Lots of fun! Here's a 25", 5lb I caught last weekend during the cold front. 48 degree high, 20-30mph north winds-Let...

Re: Hammer Rods 7' MH

Thanks BigG! :D I get lucky from time to time. There are trips where my Show and Tell post would be a blank screen. It was so nice to get out on the water with the Hammer and catch some very nice fish the very first time out with it. The 7' MH Hammer is awesome and an extremely well built stic...

Hammer Rods 7' MH

A few weeks ago, I was speaking to Gary at the Tackle Trap about his recommendations for a rod that was very close in power and taper to the Loomis MBR 842C GLX. I wasn't concerned about cost or brand as I strictly wanted a rod that matched up to the vaunted 842C GLX that I've owned now for many yea...

Re: Best Rod for Top Waters

I have not fished the Ultima 166M but I did spend some time with a ML 6'6" Expride that has similar specs and the Expride is a much more powerful rod than both the Themis or Criffhanger. That is not my style of fishing, but may work for you. With that said, the Themis is faster in action than the X7...

Re: BFS Rod ... Which one would you use ?

I throw up to 1/2 oz walking and popper baits on the Criffhanger, Themis, Shading-X and the Expada. The Themis is my favorite for topwater walking baits, but I love to fish light.

Re: BFS Rod ... Which one would you use ?

The Shading-X slots in nicely between the Criffhanger and Eiger Northwall power wise. The Shading-X taper is very similar to the Eiger Northwall, maybe slightly faster but not much. Criffhanger in my hands is a true parabolic, regular taper.

Re: BFS Rod ... Which one would you use ?

Any love for the Megabass Destroyer Evoluzion F2-67ti Themis as a BFS bottom contact rod In my opinion, it is definitely not a bottom contact rod. I own two of them and use them exclusively now for topwater baits. They have a very soft tip and a nice parabolic bend when loaded up with a fish. Perfe...

I fish 1/2 oz topwaters on my X7 Criffhanger all the time. http://forums.tackletour.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=65362

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Nice fish JD, how do you like the met DC ? I got 3 Rainbows today, biggest at 17" :big grin: Matt, Very nice Rainbow and nice gear as usual! When I initially purchased the Met DC, I wasn't overly thrilled with it. I had some incredible backlashes due to operator error. I previously owned 3 Scorpion...

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

A nice 12lb. Red I caught and released Friday afternoon. I was using an Otterods Custom built on a NFC MB664 IM blank with a Metanium DC HG. I was throwing an Egrets bait 3.5" Vudu Shrimp.

Re: Curado 100D won't crank

The worm gear is not correctly attached to the end of the worm shaft. You are going to have to remove the e-lock from the end of the worm shaft and slide the wormshaft out a little toward the handle side. If you look at the center of the worm gear, you will notice that it has a plus cut out in the c...
