Re: Daiwa Tatula 200 or Type HD (beater saltwater reel)
If you really want to be cheap the Johncoo Ares would be a good beater 200+ capacity reel for salt. You'll need to grease and oil as they come dry and crunchy/geary out of the box. I have 2. $48 aluminum frame and double aluminum side place double pinion suppored 9.9 oz 200/300 size reel. It's big ...

Re: 22 Zillion TW HD
The HD and (USDM) Zillion have a brass main gear vs standard JDM Zillion has an aluminum main gear. The HD is available in 7.1 or 8.1 ratio. The standard Zillion is available in 5.5(JDM only), 6.3, 7.1 and 8.1. The HD is a Mag-Z boost spool and is a little deeper. The standard Zillion spool is SV bo...

Re: DRT rods, tho
Long sweep and long pause to let it drift down, fast jerk, jerk, pause like a jerkbait, slow, steady retrieve with tip up and tip down, slow steady sweeps to give it a wide S pattern. You name it, I tried it. Nada. The only 2 ways I fish my TK is dead walking with the short lip + V tail, and deep w...

Re: DRT rods, tho
The same could be said for their swimbaits. I had a couple variations and never caught a single fish on either of them. On the upside, I was able to sell them for a profit. Their products are legit not hype, dedicate a whole season/year to fishing the TK and learn to fish it. Bruh... On another not...

Phenix discontinued the X12 spinning rods. You can order the blank and build it yourself, though.harry chang wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 5:15 pmAnother option is Phenix X12, which is what I use. I also use NFC Fast Glass APFG742. Harry

Re: Daiwa Saltist TW PE Special
I absolutely love my Tatula 80s. The same reel, but with a deeper spool/higher line capacity is very appealing to me for heavier/thicker copolymer lines like CXX. So the Saltist is the exact opposite of what you want :( Less line capacity and PE tuned braking sounds great to me, if it just wasn‘t b...

I think most people here wrote them off back in '21, after all the negative experiences back then. They make a great product, but can't seem to actually MAKE the product.

Re: Was Braided Line a Game Changer for You?
I use white braid a lot. I just color the last 5-6' of the line with a black sharpie and it hasnt affected my catch rate with bottom contact baits. Interesting. I'll try that. Thanks. I kinda like the white braid, because it is definitely easier to see. But, I just didn't get as many bites with slo...
