Re: Roller clutch issues?

You know LMG, you are right about X being a penetrant, but I'd suggest to ignore that as an AR bearing does not need a penetrant and that causes no harm. If you read the product data sheet, it says this product is an anti-seize lubricant which is an important characteristic. CX maintains viscosity n...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

You continually point to one-way roller clutches and it is clear reading OP that this is referring to casting reels. Please read and comprehend posts by other users. No one is recommending globbing a pile of grease on stradic or sustain roller clutches. ](*,) I have continually pointed to BOTH type...

Re: Using ultrasonic unit to apply lubricant

But a really thin lubricant, like corrosion X, might be easier and faster to apply with one. Then again, I may just be suffering from keyboard dementia. Hahaha To answer the op's question- no. And how would it be faster? I can put some X in a bearing in seconds without getting up out of my seat to ...

Curious if you are interested in hearing some history from that area, and why I avoid the SJR up there?

How long have you been in that area fishing it?

Re: I couldn’t take any more

Trout Creek? As in off off hiway 13 Jacksonville area with boat ramp at the old RV park turned into public park? Have you ever considered going across the river to Black Creek instead? I use to fish that area, but now I am in central Florida. Kingsley lake is near there. Not a whole lot of choices i...

Re: I couldn’t take any more

This is an interesting post. Here in Florida we know which lakes are over run by the weekend circus carnival, and so we either do not go out on the weekend- especially to those places, or we go to places the circus does not go. Problem solved, since we will never control the weekend circus... Do you...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

We should have stayed on topic a long time ago. But keep in mind I am not the only one who "burns bridges". You should hear what some think of you some time if you care to hear. I get to hear it though. So just be aware I am not alone in not caring what some think... The main difference is they don'...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

True enough, but if you notice when I post I never say one word about other members. Never. I stay on topic until someone wants to make it personal and then I give it back to them. Simple as that. This is where that proper management issue should come in. I own and run my own forum now for 25 years ...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

After 25 years of forum efforts and taking abuse from people who simply want to argue over things that should be set in stone and taking abuse from people like you, you should expect a harsher delivery tone. When people offer information, slamming them is the wrong approach, and then coming back say...

Re: Questions about a td-ito baitcaster

If you do a google search on leather drag washers a thread on the alan tani website forum comes up. Good read, though there is some misinformation on there as well. One guy said leather hardens up. Not when it is soaked in oil or grease it won't. Glazing could be an issue, but I only bass fish with ...

Re: Questions about a td-ito baitcaster

are almost endless with the modifications. Speaking of mods LMG, just today I purchased a sheet of cowhide leather to cut some drag washers out of it. Leather is one material found in older reels for drag washers. I'm gonna experiment with it on spinning reels first and use it in place of felt and ...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

No issues with failure, just ARBs getting dirty. A couple cycles through the Ultrasonic cleans them up quickly so that’s not a problem. I have never heard any reel tech ever recommend grease of any kind though. Haven’t tried everything out there, so there may be something that works and that’s grea...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

So you are complaining that you have job security? Thats what I am hearing...if you dont like your job, then quit. :-({|= Quit? No, I'm planning on retiring. This may be my last year of fixing forum reels. Let younger people carry that load. The burdens of the world will shift to them one by one......

Re: Questions about a td-ito baitcaster

Is there a bearing kit out there? Off hand I'd say no. Never heard of any bearing kits for any reels. Not how they do it from my experience. Bearings are usually purchased separately upon need. A good digital micrometer helps to identify measurements based on IDxODxW usually in mm. And you can try a...

Re: Roller clutch issues?

A forum is a "guide". Read and do at your own risk. Period. I know, but that is why there is such a large and growing problem because of forums... how would you like to be the mailman delivering hundreds or thousands of packages of forum reels dripping with and oooozing out the "forum recommendatio...
