I've caught smallmouth with them, but not by jigging.

Re: Rod with wrong blank??
It is also quite possible there is an error on their website regarding the Rockin' Finesse specs. I have seen errors on JDM websites before.

Re: Rod with wrong blank??
Interesting that you finally decided to get the Ice Cube Rockin' Finesse. As you know, I also have one. (Still lightly used, still available.) It weighs 68.45g. No indication on the blank what the guides are. I do not have calipers, but eyeballing against a ruler behind the blank, it appears that th...

Re: Soare CI4+, new 500 size shimano spin
The capacity is given as 140m of .3号 braid (Japanese line size). Japanese line size .3号 has a diameter of .09mm. I do not know what the spool capacity would be for .06mm diameter line.

Re: ICAST 2018 Quick Hits : New HIGH END UL rods from St. Croix
there are interesting. the only other high end rod for light line anglers is the Loomis TSR rods (they are awesome) but these are quite a bit more. I think they might have been better to market these as a trout rod rather than a panfish rod due to the high price. Trout guys will pay it (just look a...

Re: Tenryu UL Rods?
Replacement guides are available. If replacing a guide on an AGS rod you can order by guide number, if for use on another rod, order by size.Alphahawk wrote: I need to find out if Daiwa sells replacement AGS guides.

Anti-spinner bias based on line twist. Those genuinely don't twist line? I'll order some tonight.Allsorts wrote: I like what you've done with store and am wondering why you haven't stocked the Smith AR-S and Niakis spinners yet? Genuinely don't twist line and are lethal on panfish, bass, trout you name it.

Re: Tenryu UL Rods?
I need to find out if Daiwa sells replacement AGS guides. Do you know if bulk spools of line are sold in the Japanese stores? I know you can buy the 3 packs...and once I saw a 6 pack of filler spools but have never seen bulk spools on any of the sites. Regards I will ask about the replacement AGS g...

Re: Tenryu UL Rods?
The main takeaway for me was that Japanese trout rods are generally designed around mono rather than braid. I think you are right, but I would take it a step further. I think they are designed for use with a particular line, fishing venue, and lure choice in mind. I think the rod, line, and lure we...

Re: Japan style trout spoons
I'm not sure there is one "best" color. Most of what I have read suggests using different colors depending on light levels and water clarity. Personally, I also think the natural forage in that particular stream or lake may also have an impact. I have had days where any color worked, and days where ...

Re: Japan style trout spoons
I have fished with the Daiwa Crusader spoons and Daiwa Presso Adam spoons, although mostly for trout. They work well. The smaller Daiwa Presso Vega spoons work nicely for panfish and will catch bass also. http://www.finesse-fishing.com/images/daiwa-presso-vega-bass-horizon.jpg http://www.finesse-fis...

What would a purist consider to be the weight range for BFS lures?
Is there a difference between the weight of BFS lures for bass fishing and for "Mountain Stream BFS" for trout?
Is mountain stream fishing for trout even considered to be BFS by the purists?

Re: BFS UL OR XUL
I received a report from an experienced baitcaster who bought a Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS HG. He said he could cast the 1 gram Owner JH-85 jighead alone (without any plastic) 40 feet. One gram is just over 1/32 oz. He used the same Shimano Trout One NS B50UL that you have. I think he could do as...
