Re: Shimano Monocoque Handle
I'm the opposite. I hold the spinning rod with the reel foot between my middle and ring finger. I'm not too pleased with this new design. We'll see how they feel. I may just have to keep my current exprides, which I have quite a few of. I'll probably pick up the several of the new Adrena models in ...

Re: Braided line tests
Stated breaking strains are all over the place. It's best to buy by diameter, though they're often pretty misleading too, but if you can see the line you will get a good idea of it's actual diameter. I expect most premium braids break at a similar point for the same diameters, but the stated test st...

Daiwa replacement handle?
I've got a cvx 253 a that I use for inshore jigging. Would like to get a better handle, but I see there appear to be 2 different size drive shaft holes 8x5 and 7x4mm. I'm not at the same location as the reel so can't measure, anyone know which size the reel has?

Re: Smaller reel for braid with Glide Baits
300 Tranx is a surprisingly small reel, if you haven't seen one in person.

Re: New St. Croix Bass Rod
Looking forward to seeing how they've configured the spinning rods, guides and more importantly reel seat/handle. They usually fail with their spinning handles for me, I've had to strip 2 Legend elite handles and rebuild them to my taste so far.

Re: American Tackle G2 Carbon Handles
I've ordered a 9" grip and carbon Aero seat for my next build. $70 from Mudhole, $25 shipping. Pleased to get a bill for another £20 from the government for importing it. Expensive business building nice looking rods outside of the US! Hope it's as nice as it looks in the photos.

Re: Small swinging heads?
Look for "Cheburashka" jig heads. It's an eastern European developed system of weights that can clip onto any hook. Cheb heads can be bought in sized from under 1/16 to over and ounce in lead and tungsten.

Re: Sufix 131 G-Core Braided Line
I've been using a spool of it in 0.8PE all season. No complains, it's very nice easy line to use. Don't think it's appreciably better than my standard line, which is Spiderwire smooth 8 though. That Spiderwire does everything I want in a line. I have a couple of reels that get a lot of use with 0.8 ...

Re: Changing riveted reel handles?
Ha ha. I ordered a thing off Amazon. Fitted the post today. Kind of OK, but I did make a plastic shim to fill the gap between the hole in the reel handle and the screw that holds the new post on, couldn't see how it wouldn't move around otherwise. The handle came with bushings bearings and washers, ...

Changing riveted reel handles?
I have an original red Fuego 3000 reel, which I really like, though it's getting a bit long in the tooth. The reel's feeling a bit geary now and I've cleaned and greased the gears and bearings, but the rumbling feeling I still have I think is from the handle to some extent. I've tried oiling the han...
