The purple alphas and the r edition are both okayed for saltwater use. the alphas f and ito are freshwater only reels. The Sol is virtually the same reel as the F with a different handle and colour scheme.

Re: Daiwa Certate in action
Nice gears, but sadly, those are just pond reared fishes. Those pond reared barras (or other brackish water species) do not even come close to the wild ones. you got that wrong impoundment barra pull just as hard as wild barra.Every fish fights different. I`ve had big barra that you could pull stra...

Re: Daiwa Saltist or Shimano Torium?
I,ve got this information from a fishing guide that I know. He has used both torium and saltisit reels and now only uses saltist reels because the torium,s drag system does not last. He uses the reels for bottom fishing for large Lutjanid species.

Re: THIS ONE IS FOE EVERYONE TO REPLY
A lot of people in Australia still use 5'6" rods but the trend towards longer rods is making ground. I still prefer the shorter rods as a lot of barra fishing involves accurate casting arround structre.plus the longer rods tend to be harder to store and manouvre in small boats. the only advantage I ...

Re: saltwater finese reels
Mate stick with the Alphas. excellent light saltwater safe reel. load it with 20lb braid and you could head north and comfortably handle most Barramundi apart from the metre plus models. I use my alphas with 20lb pe daiwa sensor line on a loomis 663 GL3. Great little combo. you can spend all day cas...

Re: Any structural difference between Steez 100H and 103H??
I WOULDN'T BE USING A STEEZ FOR BIG BARRA. CANNOT USE IN SALT WATER AND THE DRAG IS A BIT ON THE WEAK SIDE FROM REPORTS. LINE CAPACITY WOULD BE A BIT OF AN ISSUE AS WELL. I USE A ALPHAS AS A MINIMUM .

Re: Tierra baitcast
I have seen one in a Tackle World store. it is built on a team daiwa advantage frame . same colour scheme as the spin reels and no it does not have a twitching bar like a viento. the top bar of the frame is cut out similar to the sol/alphas. hope this helps. price was about $240 AUS.

forget about fancy rods for the barra. loomis CBR756 is the benchmark for large lures.
