Re: A bunch of low end or a few high end

Its all perception of conception. You don't have to have a $500 rod to catch fish. In my experience with high end to Sub $100 rods, its what works. Example: Zillion Rods, which retails $210-$245, performs just as good or almost as good as any $500 Steez Rod. Yes the Steez Rod is tad more sensative ...

Re: A bunch of low end or a few high end

I've gone with high end, but I wouldn't say everyone should. I only carry 4 casters with me, and I don't fish T's. I went high end on the rods (Steez) but I'm using BPS Pro Qualifier Tournaments & a Carbonlite, so it's not like I have to have high end. I use the rods because they feel and work the w...

Re: tell me all about the 7'2" MH STZ FlexLite

Boy yall ain't lyin', this thing is stout !!!!!! I haven't got to fish it yet, but I'm already wishin I would've got the M power. I really think it would be more similar to the TDS MH glass rod. I really had no problems slingin a 3/8oz spinnerbait around the yard, so hopefully the 3/8oz cranks will ...

Re: tell me all about the 7'2" MH STZ FlexLite

I have been using the 7'2" Steez Fle-X-Lite for two years as my "do everything" crank rod. This past weekend I was casting 2", 3/8 oz Wiggle Warts and 2", 1/2 oz LC RC 1.5s without any problem. Needless to say, there is definitely no issue with bigger, heavier cranks, including lipless. In a "pinch...

Re: Fiberglass or graphite?

I love the way glass rods stick & hold fish. Glass seems to just pierce the hook in a fish. That's the only way I know to describe it. It also seems to be able to cast a wide range of lures due to how it loads up. I dislike the weight and the deadness of it though. Braid or FC can help a lot with se...

Re: Bass Pro Shop Reels

I've got 3 Pro Qualifier Tournaments & 1 Carbonlite and I'm as happy with them as I have been any reels I've owned. They won't pitch real light weights like the Steez will, but I never really fish light weights. As far as durability, who knows. I'm pretty sure the BPS reels (at least the PQ-type ree...

Re: light weight glass blanks?

So...why glass? Today's graphite crankbait tapers really mimic glass well. And they are truely light in comparison. Some guys love glass. Bless their hearts. Personally, I can't stand it. Its heavy, its sluggish, it has no feel... If you love glass and want a light glass blank, then so be it. But i...

Re: Spiderwire Ultracast Flouro Braid

I'd really like to try this line, but it's only available in dark green and my bad eyes just can't see green line. As far as toughness, I'm not too worried about that. I use 15# fc for jigs and plastics, so I'm sure a 10# or 12# diameter braid would be plenty strong. Hopefully they will come out wit...

Re: light weight glass blanks?

I was noticing that on their site, but on Mudhole's it's showing 3.7oz. The other 2 blank weights are consistent on both sites, so I wonder if maybe the 2.7 was a typo?

light weight glass blanks?

Is there such a thing? :D I'm thinking I might have a crank rod built sometime this year. I have a 7' MH Daiwa TDS glass rod I'm using now and love everything about it except the weight. It handles every type of crank I throw without ever seeming over or underpowered. I also like it for 3/8 - 1/2oz ...

Re: If you could use only ONE brand of hardbait...

I'll go with Bomber/Excalibur. The Fat Free Shads in 5 size from the squarebill to 10' (12' in the suspending model) and the 6 & 7 size from there. They seem to cast & run good, and I've caught lots of fish on them. I've never really had a problem with their hooks, but I may change out a few to the ...

Re: STEEZ 7' MED FLE-X-LITE opinions PLEASE

I personally don't like throwing spinnerbaits on cranking rods. Just personal preferrence really. I'm very interested in how the M power handles the upper end of its rating. The TDS MH glass rod is rated 1/4-1 oz. and I throw every crank I use with it, from the Fat Free Guppy all the way to DD22's....

Re: STEEZ 7' MED FLE-X-LITE opinions PLEASE

This is my favorite rod for shallow to medium diving cranks. I normally throw Bandit 100/200 and Rick Clunn 1.5's with it. In my eyes it's perfect for this use. Have you ever thrown 3/8 & 1/2 oz dbl willow spinnerbaits with this rod? I'm trying to decide if the 7' M or the 7'2" MH will be the "all ...

Re: ICast 2011 rumors

I think maybe Daiwa should think about having 2 flagship models. You have people that love the Z frame and people that love the Steez frame. Make both available in magnesium and aluminum. The Z tooling has long paid for itself and I'm sure after what 5-6 years the Steez has as well.
