Re: Reviews out on new 2018 Ryoga?

I take it that you got the 1500!size?. There are SLP HD and HLC spools plus Zillion 15xx spools. You can also get DIY spools with SV rotor from Aliexpress which weigh 12g.

Any favourite must try spoons by now?

Re: Looking to upgrade hooks and rings LC FM Tr85SP.

I think you will like them. If looking for single hooks for spoons, I really like the VanFook SP41 thick shank, which also comes in barbless versions (Eg SP41BL) and there are bulk “service” packages... The SP31 - thinner hook - should also be great, but I havent tried them. Single hooks for minnows...

Re: Looking to upgrade hooks and rings LC FM Tr85SP.

Owner barbless:
Stbl-1.56bc (for the smaller, lighter option)
Stbl-31tn
Stbl-36bc
Stbl-41tn
Doubt you will need thicker hooks for trout...

VanFook barbless:
DT-38BL-B (“the mountain stream trout hook”)
They probably do other versions as well...

Re: Looking to upgrade hooks and rings LC FM Tr85SP.

I have have used Owners - same type, you can get them all as barbless - and VanFook in Barbless and still do. Especially for salmon where it is mandatory in my waters. They work like a charm.

Re: Looking to upgrade hooks and rings LC FM Tr85SP.

I prefer Owner/Cultiva to any other brand - hook thickness x1-x3 depends on the size of your target. I use Owner ST21 for smaller trout, ST36 for large trout. ST41+ for atlantic salmon. The ST21 will often bend during a fight with a bigger specimen but it has never lost me a fish. I just bring spare...

Re: '19 Steez ct sv tw

So I got the 19 Millionaire CT SV, which was eagerly awaited. First impressions in the yard is “meh”. Quite unimposing simple cosmetics by Daiwa standard, which I like to some extent. Square-ish appearence from above/below. Cast control knob is silvery with a cheap-ish look, no clicks. Star drag cl...

Re: Megabass new 3 piece travel rods

I am thinking that the F0-63xtz Aero would have a bit more power than my Daiwa Wisestream 62LB-3. That rod is fun to fish but I hooked a big trout and it owned me. Now to figure out what reel to pair it with! I also ordered that rod from amazon jp a while ago - it will match my Monoblock Grigio Sto...

Re: Supertuning/Modifying your reels...

Also use reel stock for a while. Gotta have a baseline. Rarely work on cosmetics.

Re: Supertuning/Modifying your reels...

In order of priority. Old reels: Better spool, carbontex, ZPI bearings, handle bearings, clean-lube tsi321. New reels: Extra/aftermarket spool, tsi321, handle bearings, only rarely new ZPI bearings because I feel the benefit is minimal (if there). In general, I see most benefit and/or more options w...

Re: '19 Steez ct sv tw

Thanks for solving that puzzle. I'm still puzzled. Why would Sawamura create a different braking profile on the spool for the Alphas/Millionare?...Weaker magnets? A difference in distance from the magnet to the inductor in the Steez vs. Alphas/Millionare? :-k Well, I am with you, albeit more inform...

Re: '19 Steez ct sv tw

5 a.m. and I am on our small road doing casting tests. If neighbours were awake, they would be puzzled too. Importantly, after non-handle side plate adjustment the reel performs much better with regard to casting. Distance is good with 3.5-5 gram spoon as in 95% of the distance achieved with my best...

Re: '19 Steez ct sv tw

Thanks for solving that puzzle. Hmm. I ordered the Miliionaire version but would prefer fewer shims / less control... Hope it turns out fine as I do not want to play with that shim

Re: '19 Steez ct sv tw

I am slightly puzzled. The new SLP RCS CT SV 700 spool supposedly fits Steez/Alphas/Millionaire , at least according to the hedgehog site, while KTF has separate listings for the KTF Steez CT spool and KTF Alphas/Millionaire CT spool - with no indication that they are cross compatible. What is up wi...
