2022 Bantam rods
Anyone own one of these rods? I looked into them in the past and searched on here but it seemed like they never garnered much interest. I picked up the 168L+ BFS center cut 2pc rod last week and got to use it this past Sunday. I was pretty impressed with the taper and sensitivity of the rod. Very li...

Re: Evergreen Orion Black Rose
Appreciate all the input guys, I ended up ordering the yesterday. I just found it odd that a lot of the marketing from EG was "ya it can throw a balam" and then very little besides heavy cover fishing texas rigs. I suppose because it came out before the Throne that it was marketed to fill the niche ...

Re: Evergreen Orion Black Rose
Hogsticker, a couple members have/had the black rose I've noticed from their posts via the search. Thought maybe more might be out there so I made this post versus PMing q an individual member here. Been digging the lightning strike, appreciated your feedback on it. I'll probably just pull the trigg...

Evergreen Orion Black Rose
So I'm really close to pulling the trigger on this rod as a replacement to an NRX 873c. Read through a bunch of post plus Cal's review on here. A lot of what I gathered is people using it for large swimbaits. Cal mentioned he threw a 1/4oz swimjig plus trailer and he liked it at the low end. Anyone ...

Re: New Aldebaran MGL?
On the topic of a new Aldebaran MGL. It's about due, will be 5 years in old in 2023. Interesting that Japan Tackle has the 2018 MGL in the archive section as mentioned by John G. I feel like the 2023 Shimano leaks should be coming soon, the Osaka show is in about two months.

Re: New Aldebaran MGL?
I wonder how the next aldebaran bfs is even selling. That thing is so ugly that even with it being a great performer, i don't hear anyone talk about it. Personally wouldn't want to have one on any of my rods. Haha damn bro chill out. Just busting your balls . I was in the same boat, thought it...

A source for 4x7x2.5mm bearings?
Anyone have a source for some of these bearings? My stock from a long time ago has run out, I had lucked into decent quality bearings from an ebay seller at the time. Today, I received an order of 20 bearings from a random US seller and they were all gritty. I don't really want to pay $4.xx per bear...

Re: Increased costs for long tubes from Japan
Just looked into this. They still haven't raised their shipping prices despite saying it would be done on the 22nd, they mentioned a delay on their end. The retailer in question also has a clearance sale going on due to them moving locations in 2023. Grabbed a rod I definitely did not need haha. Loo...

Re: 2 piece JDM rods any problems vs 1 piece?
...What I have noticed is as the connection ages (from lots of use and some wear), and over a long hard day of casting, movement of the rod, hooksetting/fighting fish...that sometimes the upper portion can get skewered slightly out of straight alignment. That's a simple and easy adjustment to "get ...

Re: New Poison Glorious
Not a single Shimano rod with monocoque grip is a 1-piece AFAIK. They all have blanks that all glued into the grip, so it's not like you're really losing sensitivity here when you stick it in instead: it's such a tight fit (no way it'll come out when fishing), and at the very bottom of the blank, t...

Re: Aldebaran BFS 2022 Handle
Yes, you can replace the handle with any handle made for Shimanos without issue. I replaced both handles on my Ald BFS reels with 90mm rays studio carbon handles. It's a sweet reel, I use 8lb Sniper and 8lb Shooter on each reel. I've put one through the ringer fishing river smallmouth this summer an...

I ended up ordering the Lightning Strike on Friday. Got a notification that it shipped this morning. Hope to get it in time for a river trip on Sunday.

Re: Evergreen Orion "The Degel"
Thanks for the input, guys. The opening line on the Degel description got me, "From bait finesse on a 1.3g smorava + trailer to fishing for a 3/8oz spinner bait roll ...". Though, after rereading both rod descriptions it does sound like the lightning strike has that extra power to align with what I...
