Re: Suggestions for case to protect one piece rods
somewhere i have seen the use of a piece of an old rod or tube being secured to a couple of guides(maybe taped to rod?) and extending past tiptop an inch or more to prevent the rod tip from being "jammed" into the tube cap. may have been a JDM rod shipment. makes sense to me.

Re: Favorite fly rod and why??
can't be done. it is like choosing a favorite child. i can't pick one. 8' 5 wt fiberglass i built(Angler's Roost). my first Sage 5 wt(DS). an older ORVIS 5 WT. llbEAN 7 wt. dennis stone FEThomas special 4/5 wt-currently building it. the 10' 5" 5 wt(sold as a 4 wt blank) Frankenrod i put together. if...

Re: If you had to lose all but one...
no, not a spincast, it's an openface spinning reel. in the 60-70's abu built the cardinal 3, 4, and 6 for zebco with an abu badge and a zebco nameplate on some of their excellent spinning reels. i bought one, used, in the mid to late 70's. fished it relentlessly through the decades. i've never had t...

Re: If you had to lose all but one...
i'd have to keep my zebco(yep, zebco) Cardinal 4 reel-consistently perfect for over 40 years! rod would be a G.Loomis sj783 GL3 i built from a blank. 15# braid would do the trick.

Re: How do you define your enthusiasm?
i've got a few JDM baits, a couple of JDM rods, and two megabass reels so far. "the water is nice and warm", they said. very happy with what i've gotten so far. just NOW(while typing this!)got a package from my French Connection with the first of my Daritsu Explode Pencil. $50+ for a lure i'm not pl...

Re: Who regularly throws small 3/16-1/4 spinnerbaits?
i enjoy throwing the small single blade H & H spinnerbaits around timber. they're heavy in relation to their size but still have a good thump that'll get bites. chartreuse is always a good color. may try changing blade colors for fun of it.

Re: Who fishes with OLD rods?
i still use a few older rods. i've a lot(not by TT standards) of Shimano graphites-(Aero's, Fightin', magnumlite's) rods. and a few Garcia, BASS PRO SHOPS, AllStar and Fenwick fiberglass and graphite rods i still throw. just recently bought an old zebco 3366 rod for the handle and nostalgia. it was ...

Re: Question on Broken Megabass Rod
i think i'd go with the idea of now having a truly CUSTOM heavy spinnerbait and jig rod. as you said, going the warranty route may not be going to give the value another new bandersnatch purchase would. i'd keep it as is, put a good tip on it and have it for stronger duty. definitely a bummer at any...

Re: building your own rods/mhx
this is MY take on rodbuilding: there is a learning curve. steep at times, many things can go wrong. it's demanding, deatil(see how that went wrong?) wise. fun to do. you can make whatever you want, however you want it. options are practically endless. stealth to sublime and all in between. i'd star...
