Comparing Baits
I throw a mix of Strike King 5XD, DT10's, and LC RC 2.5DD during the warmer months. I'm thinking of trying some other baits to offer a change up when things get old. I'm using a lot of shad color variants (Sexy Shad, Chart Sexy, Blue Gizzard, and American Shad). Of these, which would be recommended ...

Re: What Creature Bait is Your Favorite?
I start with the SK Smokin' Rooster. Extremely versatile and has a flat profile on the body that allows for great hooksets.
Works great on a Texas rig with a pegged sinker or on the Biffle Head.

Re: Yum Beavertail Replacement
I bought a ton of 2" Wooly Beavertails at Wally World several years ago for about $1 per bag.
I caught a ton of smallmouth on them on a 1/8oz jig with a weedguard.
I never used them much for largemouth but really wish I could get some bigger ones now!
Red Shad/Charteuse was an awesome color!

Re: how many packs of plastics do u have?
Too many but I have greatly reduced the number I carry with me and worry more about changing profile completely instead of colors or going to a very different weight on the same bait to look for bites. I know I have at least a dozen colors of UV Speed Craws and Trick worms each. I've basically gone ...

Re: Jigs hook size????
I have noticed that a lot of football head jigs I pick up have small and/or light wire hooks. I don't like it. I bought some SK and the hook to me looks really small when you compare the head profile. I started dragging Hack Attack jigs and have no trouble with hooksets and catch no fewer fish...as ...

Re: spinnerbaits
Agree with most other posts here. I've not fished Big Game in 8 or 10 years now. Good line but Power Pro with a leader is better. That being said...spinnerbaits and P/F in heavy cover are shallow water applications. Shallow water and cover = heavy line. If I was to use Big Game for what you are desc...

Re: Punching/flipping JIG or PLASTIC?
I haven't caught any big fish 'punching' yet. I have very little grass anywhere in my region. Most of my punching has been on the Potomac. I will say that the first time I went a couple years ago, I wasn't getting bit on the Speed Craw (for whatever reason). I changed to the Rodent and got a few bit...

Re: Polarized Sunglasses
I wear Costas. I do not wear glasses. I feel like they have more sizes and styles of frames to fit different people's faces. Mine have poly lenses. I felt the weight of glass was a little too much for wearing all day fishing. I happen to wear the Fisch. Fit me the best of all the glasses I found. Oa...

Re: What are your go to Brands?
Primary: Strike King Secondary/Specialty: Spro (been testing their cranks and really like them), Yamamoto (I have a ton of Senkos I bought with store credit years ago), a few old Bomber Speed Shads, Shad Raps, and good bit of Zoom (UV Speed Craw and Worm mostly) Always on a Shimano reel. Been using ...

Re: 30 lb braided main line suggestion...???
I've not had any break off problems with 20 or 30 PP with a leader.
I do use 50 most of the time when throwing into heavier cover.
I would not be afraid to use 30lb except in really short-line situations like flipping with a long and really stout rod.

I much prefer my 6.5.
I have all three and it is my most used. I like the slower model more and more though. It really isn't that slow.

Re: Punching/flipping JIG or PLASTIC?
My personal best results have come on:
1. SK Rodent with 3/4 or 1oz tungsten
2. Rage Craw or Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw
3. Jig
Maybe it is a personal confidence thing? I love the Rage and Ultra Vibe craws but seem to get bit better on the Rodent?

You guys have me hook, line, and sinker. Just got my motor and wrapping stand and motor in from Cabelas...I had credit and have always wanted to build my own rods. Made an order from the 'Hole' for a couple MHX blanks and all the junk I needed to build me and my dad a rod. Will post pics if I'm not ...

Re: Falcon spinning rods - 2 power
I have a FS-2-159 Streamside. I love the rod. Easy to fish for hours on end and has much more backbone than you would think. Makes an exceptional drop shot rod in my opinion and I've caught fish up to 4.5 on it. It handles down to 1/16 ok. The great thing is that you can throw bigger baits on it if ...

I am anxious to see them but I won't be able to buy any. I wish they would trash the rods they have now and redesign. Ugh.
