Re: Reels from Japan??

There are big differences in the baitcasting reels(US vs. Japan)in both Daiwa and shimano, but with the spinning models it's a little different. Examples would be: SOL/KIX. Sol, being the US version, has one more bearing than the KIX, but is also made in the same factory. Fuego/Luvias. Same reel in ...

I agree with spiroh 100%. Get the Avid if it must be St. Croix. I have an Avid 6'6" m/f and it's the most sensitive rod I've used.

Re: Friggin hillarious!!!

Your experience sure sounds familiar. Could it be that the fishing is just getting worse? Up here in North Idaho, we have been bombarded with new development, more fisherman, and more intelligent fishing pressure. Somethings gotta give. You got that right sony. I couldn't believe the influx of plea...

Re: best tube to ship rods??

Ive gotten rods in both PVC and Cardboard tubes, but I think the PVC SHOULD be tougher, that is if the shipping people arnt morons and crush it. Like the idiots at UPS that broke my AiRRUS CO Matrix a few months ago. I don't know what Cabelas used to ship it in since I never recieved it, but UPS ma...

Nice. I'm in the process of talking with Larry right now about a customrod. It's like the spinning model you have there, but with some modifications.

Re: Bad News..... prices are going up , at least short term

Skeet: Bill's costs will go up too................ Not necessarily. His prices may be based upon MSRP. His prices may be based upon MSRP, but his cost would still be the US dollar to YEN exchange rate and I would imagine he would have to pass the hike on to the consumer. No? He still has to p...

any pics of the Caldia KIX with RCS spool.

OK guys. I have my KIX almost complete. This has been my winter project. I've almost replaced every bushing(the ones that can be replaced) in my KIX with a bearing and now I'm just waiting on my cork knobs to be delivered. Well now I'm thinking about replacing the stock spool with an RCS 2506 shallo...

Re: Choosing a Megabass Rod/Reel Combo

I've never fished a Megabass rod, but going by looks alone I would have to agree witn Boone. That Aaron Martens and certate combo is a hot looking setup, but if you have the money I would get the new Exist over the Certate to go with it.

Re: No. of bearings

Everything depends on spool design and economies of scale. Inotherwords, more bearings doesn't neccessarily mean a smoother reel. It does mean a more expensive reel. An example would be the old Daiwa's spool design or the Calcutta like the sandman mentioned earliar. These reels are smooth and crank...
