Re: Punching with a Drop Shot
this technique works well for silt/trashy bottoms as well. in this situation, a heavy flippin weight will drive the bait deep in the bottom to the point the bass cant find it. some like Scroggins will not peg the weight to help, but the weight & bait still get lost in muck. you can set bait a differ...

Re: Long Carolina Rig Rod
its not a slap at NRX for they are very nice rods, but for the application the thread was based on "I" feel that it is under powered for nasty carolina riggin. It is a fine rod, but for this Florida boy, hvy grass needs much more. As for a recommendation, I am still experimenting. I am waiting on a ...

Re: Long Carolina Rig Rod
The NRX is a nice rod but lacks the power for nasty stuff. I still have not figured out best role for 873 it is a good all purpose rod but for hvy grass Carolina rigging it just doesnot have enough power. Jt

I must say the "hate for Kistler" is getting a bit old. There have been problems with many brands. Call Kistler.. they have a program in place to put new micros on your old Kistler rod for like $90 ...

Re: To all florida bass fisherman, help!
I agree with above. will add: Skinny dipper in watermelon, or pearl; also pitchin/flippin Okeechobee Color Baby Paca craws or Rage Craw in Okeechobee. if weather / wind get bad, try J&H inside rim canal north of the locke: trickworms, senkos on the western inside of the canal (soft/grassy) and try a...

Re: Rod for Paddletails
First: Rigging the skinny dipper I like to use the Owner Monster 4/0 hook (1/4oz) weight hook. This hook is strong and allows for perfect swimming even at real slow retrieves. Second / Rods: for long casts I use a 7'6" hvy pwr, Mod- fast tip ; line: 40lb Braid with a 4ft Fluorocarbon leader. The Bra...

Re: saltwater worthy reels
my vote: Revo Inshore for general purpose casting ... for bottom, jiggin... go with Revo Toro Winch.... I use both and have caught 10lbs grouper and red snapper in 80 ft of water with braided line.... 40lbs reds and black drum... funnnnnn.

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
Bait Casting - Right
Spinning - left
Flippin / Pitching - left and Right.... in FL... we flip n pitch all day...you better learn to use both left and right or you get real tired real fast.

Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?
Revo STX, Winch, and Premeir, are top notch in bait casters for the quality and value hands down. Spinning: The soron line is ok. but I still lean to Diawa TD Sol 2500 or the new Shimano Ci4 as preferred models.

Re: NRX foregrip problem
ya... good question. I have the 873, no problems yet, but don't like hearing of issue like this on a $500 rod. Fished it again this weekend and I really like the rod, but not for the technique it was marketed as: Carolina Rig. it is way under powered for that IMO. Disappointing since I really wanted...
