Re: Why doesn't Daiwa face the TWS grooving issue?(with pics
I have reels I've fished hard for over ten years that don't have any problem. The T wing design clearly puts pressure on the line guide, both in front and in back. Daiwa must have had a problem with a supplier coating the metal improperly, or using inferior metal, since not all T wing reels have th...

Re: Why doesn't Daiwa face the TWS grooving issue?(with pics
Do you still use that line guide? I was one of the first guys to report the TWS grooving, (was completely attacked for it by forum members) BPS confirmed it for me and replaced with a reel of my choice. After seeing this picture I really have to wonder if the groove has any impact on the line at al...

Does Daiwa offer free replacments for grooved parts? It seems like the smart thing to do.IlliniDawg01 wrote:If you end up buying new guides, get the new Zillion guide instead of the Tatula. It has been tweaked to put less angle on the line.

Tommy,
That's interesting. Does the old T wing design allow the line guide to travel the full width of the spool as well, or is it just on the new reels?
Please take some pics, if you can, and post them here.

Re: new Zillion and tatula TWS comparison..groove no more
^ What? I dont understand. TWS does not create a sharp angle. I'm just guessing here, having never cast a reel with a T wing, or seen one being cranked. I think the problem is that the wide part of the T wing limits how far the front line guide, which is smaller and centered, can travel. For exampl...

Re: new Zillion and tatula TWS comparison..groove no more
Are you saying the new T wing bar is interchangeable with the older grooved version? If so, it seems to me that there is only one thing left for Daiwa to do, to deal with what was clearly a design problem on their part. Since Daiwa obviously saw it was a real problem, and addressed it with their red...

Re: new Zillion and tatula TWS comparison..groove no more
So for those that hook their bait with larger hooks to the top bar...looks like lesser chance of hooks getting in to that TWS. I haven't actually seen the new design personally. I think, in order for the new design to eliminate the grooving problem, the bottom of the new, thinner rear bar would be ...

I'm not sure. I think it has something to do with the path Nessie takes wearing on the lake bottom, but that's just a vague memory of a long ago thread.taylor5877 wrote:What grooving issue?

What would be the best BC to pair with this stick? Will use it for bass (if I can get any) and catfish from the city lakes in 3-7lb range. Bait will be any from stinkbait-hot dogs-liver-chicken on a Carolina rig to rigs and spinner/buzz baits. Thought about the Steez but from the last Steez experie...

Do the redesigned parts fit the reels with the grooving issues?
Did they change the line guide, too?

Mine was the Chronarch Bantum 100. I still have it, but now it feels tall and awkward in my hands, after fishing my newerer, truly low profile reels. And the spool seems so narrow!John Puckett wrote:Shimano Chronarch 101A
