Re: Trouble getting knobs shimmed correctly

Wow, thanks guys, removing all the shims and starting to build up from the bottom is working like a charm. For some reason in my head it made more sense to shim from the top, so I was driving myself crazy.

Re: Trouble getting knobs shimmed correctly

Huh. Most every knob I have had removed has had a single shim below the Lower Bearing and one above the Top Bearing. I have been trying to add them to both spots, that seems like my problem.

Re: Trouble getting knobs shimmed correctly

I have .1, .2, and .3mm shims to play with. It just seems like I can stack like a full mm of shims on top of the top bearing and the screw will still not tighten down leaving any knob rotation at all. Is there a "standard" way to add shims, like am I looking to balance top and bottom, or is it just ...

Trouble getting knobs shimmed correctly

I have been swapping handles and knobs around on a few of my reels and for some reason I am having a huge issue getting the knobs shimmed up correctly. I am dealing with factory Daiwa handles and knobs in all cases so far. I have been taking knob A off of handle 1 and trying to mount them on handle ...

Re: Trout baits?

I use single hooks on all my hard baits under 1/4" or say 1-2" long. I do this for the welfare of the fish and myself. Most of my UL/L hardbait fishing is for white perch and they will hit a lure 1/2 their own size with such aggression that it was very common to have small perch get all three treble...

Re: Trout baits?

Trout stocking started happening in my area a few weeks ago and I am here to give you a report on a couple of lures that do not catch trout. :( I spent about a week trying an assortment of inline spinners (mostly 1/8 RT's with the hook swapped for a single), spoons (mostly 1/8oz Kastmasters, again w...

Bronzefly, you will have a PM in a sec. I am right on the edge here but don't want to hijack this thread anymore.

Re: XX PP for small swimbaits?

Sorry for your loss - the X4 Destruction is a fantastic rod. On a budget in the Megabass line up, the 72H Hyuga is a great choice. How well does the Hyuga work at the top of it's rating? I am looking to replace a Fred's Magic Stick with a rod with a bit more room at the high end. Specify, I am look...

Re: New Daiwa Spinning Reels

Can anyone confirm that the BG2000 and BG1500 are the same frame with a different spool? I have a M/F rod that is tip heavy with the Ci4+2000 I bought for it and I love the idea of a heavier, inexpensive, but still quality, reel I could try on it.

Re: Rod and reel storage in between trips

Huh, now I feel bad just keeping my combos together on the rack. I do keep covers on the rods and reels, but you guys are making me feel neglectful.

Re: SV105 spools?

Worst case, sell the Steez spool and buy the right one, if you really got the Steez for under $100 you should be able to make your money back plus most/all of the shipping.

SV103 aftermarket part sizes?

Hi, I am buying a new spool for my SV103 and wanted to take the opportunity to tart it up a bit. Looking for some help in confirming that I have the sizes right and filling in some missing info. Here is what a I have so far; Bearings: 3x10x4 and 3x8x4 Drag: Daiwa #1 Spool: 34mm Frame screws: 5-5-8 B...
