Re: 15 Aldebaran BFS vs. 16 Aldebaran BFS

15 bfs - Centrifugal braking, palms great, 8:1 gears
16 bfs - Mag braking, audible clicking drag, xship, 8:1 gears
Cq bfs hg - Should be pretty similar to the 16 bfs xg with the added smoothness of being a conquest. 6:8 gearing

^ Pretty much, you won't go back to spinning gear after using a bfs combo :)

Re: Who is using BFS casting gear for trout/panfish

Great thread, most of you guys know I'm a bfs junky. I honestly fish for all species on bfs gear but hope to build a nice mountain trout stream combo this year. Thinking new cq bfs hg, undecided on rods. Wish some of the newer Shimano trout rods had more bc models.

Re: Which of these reels would you use for BFS?

I would swap that spool & bearings over to the aldebaran. There much nicer reels then curado. In terms of braking, mag is so much smoother, no noise, and throws light baits just as well as centrifugal. Zpi 732 aldebaran, zpride, or bfc revos will just about smoke anything in the bfs world. SS air/al...

Re: Under Spin 101

i slow roll the 3/16oz owner underspins with 4 inch keitech easy shiners. Pretty much fish it like a spinnerbait. Ive caught my largest fish the past few years with this setup.

If im in a jam, i grab the 1/4oz fish head spins from dicks sporting goods.
