Re: Frog Reel search

IMO, there is still no better frog reel than a Calais DC7.

Re: Black topwaters?

When I was a kid, a gr8 fisherman (We'll call him my fishing guru) once offered me any jitterbug in his tackle box...Since they were all black, I chose a black one. :big grin:

Have you considered the Conquest/Calcutta DC100?

Re: USDM 500-size reels

Actually, I have a TwinPower 1000 on my SJR 720 IMX and a Laguna 500 on my SJR 6400 IMX. Where I live, you never know when a decent bass will hit and the SJR rods do give you a bit of backbone for those moments. The 500 sized reel on the 6400 IMX is really a sweetly balanced combo and is wonderful t...

Re: USDM 500-size reels

Can't you put together a GLoomis SJR 720 IMX with a Shimano Soare 500S and keep it under $500? That would be a pretty sweet combo IMO.

I really like my Calais DC7 if you want a high ratio retrieve but the Conquest DC100 remains my favorite DC for cranks.

Re: First Tests and a Look Inside the 13 Fishing Concept Z - Zero Ball Bearing Baitcaster

I'm surprised no one has brought up the point that there is now another, potentially collectible ORANGE reel on the market that MHOOD needs to add to his arsenal pronto! My wife tells me I'm too predictable. :big grin: Noticed it...priced it...might very well want it after reading the glowing...

I love big water trolling for stripers. It's like trolling for walleye on Erie, but these walleye get big, and you know, pull back, lol.
Yep. :big grin:

Let's go back 35 years to the best fishing trip this old boy ever went on. This is Lake Texoma in Texas.

Re: Rod for calcutta conquest bfs?

Daiko is no longer making rods. You would need to find a used or old stock one. Yes, it would be a search for a used one but it's hands down the best light BC rod I ever had the pleasure to fish with. I have searched to jupiter and back with no luck finding one of these. Please let me know if you h...

It was my Dark Lord who got me the CPO 301 spool and what is a Pixzilla without a CPO 301 spool?

I want to pass out some credit for the Pixzilla concept. Christian Tanno (are you still out there?), Cal (of course), D.R. Fielding (haven't seen DR in years now) and myself. We birthed Pixzilla. Keep it orange! :big grin: D.R. Fielding was a superb guy to deal with.. He's a gr8 guy to fish with to...
