Re: What reviews are you looking forward too?
What I would like to see: - 1. Line shootout within each type. Floro, mono (yes I still use it) and braid. With so many new lines I simply cannot keep up! 2. Casting reel shoot out but based on price. Maybe up to 250, 400 and anything higher. So many good reels out now that the details will will onl...

Re: My first Fairy Wand. BC or Spin?
I started fishing finesse gear back in the 70,s after attending one of Charlie Brewer's seminars. Here in Tennessee we have everything from shallow muddy water to clear as air I deep lakes. Although I do fish bait casting gear I find myself fishing spinning gear more as I get older. I actually sugge...

Re: Setting the hook on light line
As a long time light line fisherman I think the best way to hook fish with light line is the sweep set. Simply reel in the slack and sweep the rod to a tight line and reel in. The small sharp hooks will dig in easily and unless the fish breaks the line he is yours. A snap set risks breaking the line...

Re: Anise Oil and Salt on Plastics--Dislike
If you don't like the Anise smell rinse them off and add a little bacon grease. It works just as well and will remind you of breakfast!
One thing is grease will spoil over time so just a bit will do it.

Re: Your top 3 soft plastics
First let me say we fish a lot of plastics. But probably use these three the most -
1. Robo 6" straight tail
2. 5" Senko
3. Baby Brush Hog
If one of these will not catch them then it may be top water time!

Re: Gamakatsu TGW
I have ordered a couple of packs of the Drop shot hooks. Strong, sharp and already "point adjusted" by Aaron. Thanks Gamakatsu!
Did not think the split shot/drop shot hook could be better but these look great.

Re: New Straight Cast reel ICast 2014 from Kendra Gear
The spool flips to either side so you can cast from either the front or back of the spool and alternate which way the line twists. This would in theory reverse the twist and result in net zero. Interesting concept but lots of work to get the weight down for production.

Re: Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 2500
I changed knobs on my Ci4+ and added a second bearing. Seems better but hard to say because I replaced the round knob with the Septon casting grips. I will say I really like the new combo and the + is an upgrade from the standard Ci4 for sure. You can get the bearings for not a lot of money so I wou...

Re: Magnum Spoons
An 8 inch version showed up at the Ky Lake FLW tourney this past week. Ben Parker who guides on the lake is developing it with a lure manufacturer. And it was reported to weigh 3-4 ounces. You can get some info off the FLW site. It caught at least some fish for several of the top 10 finishers.

Re: changing or repair hook keepers help
I just put a Kigan keeper on my latest project. I located it about 2.5 inches above the front grip. This rod has a front grip setup copied from Aaron Martens and the keeper location clears my fingers when using front grip. The keeper is a rounded spring clip style that will work by sliding line unde...

Re: Changing handles on an IMX
Like others have said pretty easy task. I have replaced some old cork grips with new EVA and am very happy with the results. I did mine as split grips and after removing the old cork my process was: Shape the grip and butt to desired contours. I think this is much easier to do on a mandrel. After th...

Re: Duo Realis G-Fix
Turned out to be not good for Cranks. We caught everything on plastics and had a descent day. One thing I did find out is that the 3/4 ounce bait sinks fast, straight down!

Re: Duo Realis G-Fix
Nitro I will test them out this week. Fish in post spawn stained water in low to mid 70's. Should be ideal conditions?
