Using an arbor to reduce the amount of line needed to fill a spool is decades old.
That it actually adds distance to a cast would have more to do with the weight of the underlying braid as compared to the weight of a like volume of mono or fluorocarbon.

I know you're kidding. Anyone, I do mean anyone, can catch fish where you live.

Martin,
Excellent review. Now, we fully expect a review of the Daiwa SS Air.

Re: Gamma Touch
Tatsu is better, at least, for the 2 things you asked about. Feel, very supple, handles nicely and ties beautiful knots. Stretch, minimum amount, relates to sensitivity and it sinks, so bottom contact techniques work the way they should. Some day there may be something better but for now, this is it.

Re: Gamma Touch
I do not see the price difference but that's not the issue. Make sure you are comparing what a 100 yards of each will set you back.
It has good feel and stretch was not significantly more than what you would expect from a fluorocarbon.

Re: Gamma Touch
I've used the 4 pound test, nice line, just not up to the level of Tatsu.

Re: Fluorocarbon increases depth???
No innuendo on my part. I have an opinion, might not be the same as yours. If they call it marketing, it's not a lie. Wish I knew who to credit that one to but it is true. Fluorocarbon is a different formulation than mono. Both are obviously different than braid. None are perfect, all have attribute...

Re: Fluorocarbon increases depth???
Lots of anecdotal evidence being discussed on this thread. The biggest fallacy is to believe a bunch of keyboard jockeys who can't catch their ass with both hands rather than the materials engineers. I will take those theoretical opinions over anything that someone who needs 50 pound braid to catch ...

Re: Shimano Brenious - Saltwater Baitfinesse
Martin,
I agree, if I was picking out 1 in 5 casts, then efficiency would be the wrong term. I throw 3" custom spaghetti worms and 1/32 ounce jigheads/tubes and never have a problem but I have been doing this a tad longer than you. Practice makes perfect.

That's what I do. Brakes kill casting efficiency. If the thumb won't handle it, get a spinning reel.

Re: Fast/X-Fast Action Ultralight Rods
I agree, in the 500 size category the latest Symetre is hard to beat.
The Patriarch 9525X is light but closer to a 1000 reel in size.

Re: Fast/X-Fast Action Ultralight Rods
I agree, long fight times, especially in warm waters are to be avoided. Longer rods are better but that usually comes down to personal preference and style of fishing. 1/16 ounce stuff should work fine with that spin jig rod, it is right in the middle of the advertised range. Lighter jigs might be a...

Re: Fluorocarbon increases depth???
Probably going to be difficult to get funding for a study of this nature. Looking at at your question, the answer is pretty obvious. The principles involved continue to apply. Nylon or Mono vs Fluorocarbon, which gets deeper? The one with the greater specific gravity. Winner, fluorocarbon. Same diam...
