Re: BFS Fluoro vs Braid Pros and Cons
Straight braid works wonderfully for BFS. The only time I switch to mono/fluoro is during the coldest cold of winter.

Re: BFS Casting Motion - why not a full on 'whip'?
^ Carlos, I agree with you. I sometimes get tired when other fishermen say that they can cast ultralight lures >60 feet with their grandfathers Ambassadeur 6000. Perhaps they can, probably not, but IF achieveable then it is with considerable risk of birdsnests and only in very optimal conditions (no...

Re: Round reel love?
Being Danish, I envy the Swedes for Abu Garcia ;) I have many Ambassadeurs, Mørrum 1601 & 3601 with Avail spools, Amb 4601C3 w. Avail spool, Record 51 etc. just to name a few. I use the Mørrums in streams and rivers for seatrout. The 4601 and Record I use for inshore fishing and from my kayak. I rea...

Re: Forgive me daiwa
I kind of think anyone who thinks one brand has a monopoly on quality interesting products has been living in a cave. I have a Bantam and love it also have a Tatula SV and love it. I'm sure that I am not the only one that mixes it up. Brand loyalty, is silly, be it fishing equipment or cars. Agree...

Ulbc2, yes, I have noted the fish caught in your area and have considered visiting. We have some big perch, but the weather and food is better in Spain

Re: Daiwa Coastal
My brother - also a Tackle Maniac - has the reel for inshore fishing for sea run browns, which sadly do not grow into tarpon size. He is quite happy with the reel and the casting distance he achieves.

And difficult to get a nice 2501/2601.
I wonder why they do not make the reels right now...

Re: Nanobraid, Gliss opinions
^ Great input, thanks. I have Gliss on my Aldebaran with avail spool. I fish in areas with little rock and havent had many abrasion related issues. I do experience dig-ins after snags/big fish and also use the half-hearted cast approach. I do find that the line becomes quite twisted (right word?) on...

Re: Rod for a "Guest" Angler
I buy too much tackle. Sell too little. Therefore, I have several “old” but also very good rods that family and friends can borrow. Many years ago, I started out buying extra rods/reels for “guests”, but with my constant accumulation of tackle, I shouldnt have done that. Get yourself a new and bette...

Re: Fillet Knife
I have several fillet knives from various brands - they all work fine. My most high-end / quality knife is by japanese brand MAC. The 16 cm versions comes with sheath (in Denmark at least) but there are other versions if you prefer a longer knife. See for example https://www.macknife.com/products/pr...

Re: Ultralight casting goals...
Does anyone make BFS spools or even lighter than stock spools for Ambassadeurs? That plus some ABEC 7 bearings seem like a good way to get BFS-ish reel on the cheap. I have avail spools in my Amb 4601C3, Amb 5601 Ge Fan i vara vatten, Amb Mørrum 1601 and 3601. These spools are light-ish and good fo...

Thanks guys. I just purchased a Proxxon Micromot 50/e - Proxxon price was better for me here in EU.

Re: Do you use a dremel?
I have considered a dremel/proxxon for some time, but havent made the purchase yet as I am unsure of what version to get. Any help - also with add-on items (brushes?) would be much appreciated.
