Re: 2021 Daiwa Caldia FC LT2500S

That's one good looking reel! what part of the handle is wonky?, where it screws on to the drive gear or the handle knob? I have been wondering about one of these.

Thanks, Kurt

Re: Want to try a higher end spinning reel

I agree with all of the above the Certate LT is the real deal, I have three all in different sizes and they are liquid smooth even after landing lots of Salmon on each of them they are still out of the box smooth and tight.

And yea, it's like your inside my brain on the thought process. Certate widely praised, but would I be missing out on new Shimano tech with the new Exsence.
You'll be missing exactly NOTHING - get the Certate!!!

Re: Spinning reels

I would shy away from anything other than Daiwa or Shimano just for the service sake if you plan to keep them long term, Who knows where the other brands are made and by whom and how long parts will be available? I own a lot of upper end spinning reels and so far the Certate LT is the best bang for ...

Re: I don't use spinning gear at all. Do you?

Being in Alaska we sometimes have very target rich environments and I have gone both ways, but have come back around to mostly spinning gear. For King (large) salmon I use both interchangeably but for the remainder of the Salmon species I use light tackle (6-10lb test) with that said I have found th...

Re: Daiwa Kage LT MQ

I agree the Certates LT's are outstanding reels, I have been very impressed and I'm a very picky sucker :D I have caught a lot of Salmon on the three I have (2500-4000) and you would never know they have been used, they just as tight and silky smooth as they were out of the box. One more plus is the...

Re: Daiwa Kage LT MQ

I just added that spool support bearing to three Certate LT's and a JDM Ballistic last week along with internal spool bearings. The spool support bearing is the same size as Shimano uses on the Sustain they run about $4.00 each from Shimano. ;)

Re: 300 Size Reels, Tat or Curado?

My Lefty 7:1 showed up and it's pretty darn smooth, more so than some of my 100 size reels, and solid, the only minor gripe I could find without being on water is the thumb bar/clutch travel is a little long, about twice that of my Lexa 300. This thing should be lots of fun! Bravo Daiwa. :)

Re: 300 Size Reels, Tat or Curado?

Thank you RTO that is good information! we throw a lot of large inline spinners and large lures with pretty high resistance then factoring in the current the cranking effort increases significantly so my reels are often working hard. My Lexa 300 has been a tank so hopefully the Tat will be too. Fish...

300 Size Reels, Tat or Curado?

Has anyone had a chance to handle them yet? I see that the new Curado has a graphite gear side cover? I ordered a Tatula 300 for that reason they claim to have an Aluminum gear side plate so I went with it. I ordered the 7.1:1 to pick up the speed from my Lexa and Curado 300E a little bit. I think t...

Re: Certate LT?

I'm very impressed with mine and I am totally OCD about my tackle, and when the time comes for the bearings to be serviced I will probably get clean them and lube them with TSI-321 ;-) Kurt But how you gonna open it up :-k Considering how clean the grease is inside my reels that tells me there is v...

Re: Daiwa steez 2020

FWIW, the A is a killer all around reel, I was shocked when I used mine the first time back to back with my Bantam MGL and Met. MGL, I couldn't believe what I had been missing! Simply the Finest bait casting reel I have ever used and that includes besting my Antares that now has a new owner.

Re: Daiwa Lexa Question

Kurt, Thank you. I will look into it further as an HD with clicker would be exactly what I want. Buying the Model with the clicker and beefing it up with the HD parts might be the best/cheaper option?, If you tried to put a clicker on the HD you might have to buy a new spool? Maybe the guys at Tack...

Re: Daiwa Lexa Question

I have the original grey 300HSL and upgraded the gears from the original brass to the Stainless Steel HD gears, it's been a very good reel, I would buy another in a second when the time comes. The HD is more oriented towards Ocean and Heavy duty work I believe they have greased bearings so that cou...
