Re: Which reel?

The Viento has some followers as well, but don't let it dictate the overall quality and design of all Daiwas. There are many Daiwa models that are very much worth consideration. It just happens that the LPs for bass fishing is dominated by Shimano in regards to overall durability...but in round reel...

Re: Pro Rod and Reel Choices

I'm glad that the Quantums are doing well for you as it does for many others. Like I stated before, they have come a long way...much better than the stuff they made from the mid 80's to early 90's...seems like I was replacing those reels annually. And so far as Pflueger is concerned...I don't think ...

Re: replacing my lucky crafts one at a time

One helluva rattlebait that is not mentioned much...Luhr Jensen Sugar Shad...I catch fish on it from ice-out to ice-up...and it's an affordable American lure. BTW, sad news on the Bandits since the production moved to China...I heard that they are not the same lure anymore, even if you change out th...

Re: Which reel?

Off subject...but yeah I was disappointed in the Viento as soon as Daiwa released it. Daiwa is about style, design, performance, reliability, new technologies and advancements...but this reel hit me as a fad/gimmick.

Opinions Zillion 7.1 vs Curado 200DHSV...

Anyone have any feedback as to the cranking power, casting ability, feel, drag performance between these two? Also, are the IPT about the same?

Thanx in advance.

Re: Pro Rod and Reel Choices

It's always about the almighty $$$$$$...so that is just old news. Some of the ways these guys go about in selling these products however, is just not, let's just say, truly honest. I wish that someone who could be totally independent would just come out and kick everyone's A@# without one single pat...

Re: ish monroe winning with the steez

How much anyone spends on anything is always about how much they are willing to justify/budget/afford to have what they want to complete the purpose with that particular tool. There are many who will buy the best that they can afford for what they really love...fishing is just one example. OBTW, if ...

Re: Classic reels 10 years from now?

I think that "mainstream" would also have to be defined a bit better? Are we talking lower-mid priced/higher volume models that are more commonly used by the general public?

Re: Classic reels 10 years from now?

Shimano Chronarch B, Daiwa Luna, Abu Revo, Daiwa Sol/Fuego (spinning & casting), Abu Record, Daiwa Advantage, Shimano Curado D.

Probably a lot more that I missed...if you consider the "non-mainstream" market reels like the JDMs, I am sure the list would be considerably longer.

Re: Prop Baits

Gilmore Jumper is a great lure as well along with Luhr Jensen's other line-ups. Devil Horse should be a standard along w/the Torpedo. BTW, if you want one that creates a more subtle wake, look into Lucky Craft's offering, along with some other JDM Prop Baits. My fav is an old beat up Panatela that I...

Re: spinnerbaits

Heavy Cover (build your own & avail painted blades) is nice as is War Eagle...both have quality components. Just wished the blades on the War Eagles were of better quality and the hooks were slightly larger. Terminator is a good SB, but the skirt design and durability of the head finish along w/ the...

SCHWWEEEEETTT!!! Sign me up...it would be worthwhile, and also would be Pioneer since no one else is doing it yet anyway. Could be a massive hit. BTW, having Bill Dance sell his new current sponsors' miracle products is not the same as a complete breakdown/assessment of the product...as provided by ...

Re: Who is the most reliable reel manufacturer out there?

Shimano overall for baitcasters in LP...A draw w/the Calcutta/Conquest vs Millionaire/Luna however. Daiwa overall in Spinning line-up (freshwater and saltwater reels) with the exception of the Stella. BTW, the Morrum series from Abu along with some of the original 4600/5600 were pretty durable too.....

Re: Which reel?

I have also fished many different manufacturer's offerings and would be hard pressed to state that any one wins "hands down"...if you like the Shimanos, then Daiwa must also be included. And now, Abu is also getting back into the game as well. Once again, opinions will always vary, but actual accoun...
