Spy Bait Reel - High End

I'm looking for a new reel for a 902s NRX. I use this rod to throw spy baits. I want a slow gear ratio reel in 4000 size for line management and slower retrieves. I would pick up a Certate LT 4000D-C, but they seem to be sold out everywhere. I think I'm down to a 22 Exist 4000D, 23 Vanquish 4000 MHG...

Re: 2022 Exist

I have 4000 size 18 Exists, 19 Certates, and a 21 Airity. I’ve caught a 30 lb king salmon on my 18 Exist on 10 lb braid. No reel flex at all and the drag easily held up.

Re: Nrx bladed jig rod as a dedicated FLUKE rod?

You have to buy a lot of tackle through one place. I was offered 40% off NRX+ rods this past December.

Re: Challenge: Pick 4 NRX Spinning Rods (if you could only carry 4)

I’d go with 3 872 and a 822 dsr. Is the 872 that good? I’ve never used it. What’s your favorite techniques to use it for? It’s the best rod Loomis makes. It can do everything from drop shotting in weeds to Neko rigs. Cool. Does it do ned rigs better than the 821 nrr? 1/4 oz and up it does. I don’t ...

Re: Bottom Contact Rod!

I use a Phenix K2 765 for those applications, but I use a braid to leader setup which ups the power slightly. It might be underpowered slightly if you fish 1 oz a lot.

Spider Spin is the clear winner for me. Between this and the Steez RC 68MH it’s nice to see a JDM trend emerging toward some heavier spinning rod options.
It looks like it won't be released until next fall or winter. At least it gives me time to save my nickels.

Re: Fun new EG rods and other goodies

The Spider Spin seems to be a unicorn rod I have been looking for. I do a lot of drop shotting in milfoil.

Re: Trout dry flies don't float well

Probably nothing if you do a good application of Gink and then add dry shake when it stops to float. You can also add a few false casts to dry out the fly.

Re: Recommend a new finesse spinning rod

Thanks, i'll probably put the ags at the top of the list now. Too many positive feedbacks compared to the new NRXs.... Hey, just curuios what you ended up getting?? Love hearing comparisons between megabass p5, steez and nrx. And anyone else is welcome to chime in. Thanks! I like my St. Croix mlxf ...

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!

I probably use the 821 for trout fishing more than bass, but it does work really well with smaller Neds. I switch over to a 872 if I'm fishing 1/4 oz or larger. I like it for casting smaller Mepps inline spinners and BFS hardbaits. I had a 20"+ brown trout follow my spinner yesterday and almost had...

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!

Ok, I have read all I can find. What rod should I get for Ned rigs. I have a 902S and the Steez 7 6 MML. It would be between 821S and the 901S. Sensitivity and fun factors are most important. ' I have both of these rods and a 7’6 Steez. I would go with the 821 for all Neds under 1/4 oz. the 7’6 Ste...

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!

Been using the 821s NRR for a year now. For the ned rig specifically, I can't imagine a better rod. I paired it with a Vanquish 2500 SHG and the combo is like a feather in my hand. 10lb braid to 7lb fluoro. I fish primarily with 1/10oz jigheads and occasionally 1/15oz. I use a small variety of zman...
