Re: Nrx or glx

Looking for a rod to use as a senko rod, small paddletails, flukes, double down for minor use on shaky head and maybe dropshot. Think I’d prefer a bit of a shorter rod but still open to opinions. Was looking at the 852c or 853c I've used my GLX 852c for all of those applications except for dropshot...

That's a pretty sweet combo. Hope you lean into a bunch of bigguns with it......

Re: New combo- carbon head Hien

Have you tried chucking a Duo 90 or 80 GFix spybait with this combo? I've had a Hein on my radar for a while now as a dedicated spybait rod that I would pair up with an SV105 P or a Zillion SV TW P with a 1012 spool. I like an XF tip for spybaiting and I'm currently using a GLX 852C JWR but I think ...

Re: Dedicated swimjig rod.

Does anyone have a recommendation in a megabass? 2018 Orochi XX or Destroyer USA? Maybe just use the Glx 844 MBR and replace that rod with something else? Thanks I can (and often do) throw a swimjig all day and I have a a couple 1st gen XX Diablo Spec-Rs paired with a Steez SV TW and one, if not bo...

If they are an authorized reseller then yes.

But I would strongly recommend getting your new MB rod from Tackle Trap. The advertised price is the same and Tackle Trap is well known for their customer service.

Re: Looking for first megabass rod please help

So if I used the st croix as a frog rod and went with a spec-r or daemos that would be a better choice for finessing? Those two options work better for plastics than the TV but they fall short in frog presentations? Kind of makes sense for me to do that because it’s not like I’m selling my st croix...

Re: Looking for first megabass rod please help

Lol sorry man, just wanted to be as specific as possible. I think the TV will be good enough for most of my presentations. I’ve currently been using a st croix 6’6 premier with a abu revo sx and somehow managed to cheat and use it for everything, even a 6XD which hurts my wrist reeling in lmao. Top...

Re: Looking for first megabass rod please help

I do use a lot of topwater including frogs so the Spec-R probably wouldnt be good for me. I use regular frogs, sprinker frogs, 90 ploppers the most and the odd spook or sexy dawg for topwater and I use weightless or light weight wacky 5" senkos, weightless and light weight texas rigged flukes and s...

Re: Looking for first megabass rod please help

Thanks boatbuggy for your quick reply. How does it compare to some of the st croix and loomis models in the same price range? And would you change anything about it? Thanks again! I don't have any Loomis or St Croix that compares to the $300 XX lineup. Most of my Loomis rods are NRX or new GLX and ...

Re: Looking for first megabass rod please help

I've used my F6-70 XX Tour Versatile for all the things you listed. In my hands the TV does a lot of things pretty well but it doesn't really shine at anything. I use my TV mostly for chucking Rage Toads on 50 lb braid. The TV is a little stout for the regular 5" senkos and flukes but it does a good...

Re: Good 1000 size spinning reel for 2-4lb test

In the Shimano series, a Ci4+ or above will provide a really good drag.

I've never used line that small on a spinning reel but I have used 4 lb Maxima fluorocarbon as tippet on a fly rod. Maxima is pretty popular with the fly fishing crowd.

It's at the top end of the range if a big trailer is added to a jig but to say it can't handle a 1/2 oz lure is simply not true.....

Re: Loomis 853/854 vs 893/894

What do you mean by a “plunk and dunk” rod? Pitching tx rigged worms, lizards, beavers, creatures, etc around cover such as lily pads, patches of submerged cabbage and laydowns. These are these are predominant forms of cover for largemouth where I live. Was looking to use the rod for open water to ...

For 3/32 im using spinning gear. A $20 spinning reel will cast further than a $500 casting reel in this situation.
It probably will but castability doesn't mean just distance..... ;)
