Re: Kistler Enters the Reel Market with Their Series 1 Casting Reels
pict_kistlerseries1casting-019.jpg I would day that the brakes are very similar to Shimano SVS. They swig on a hinge and the inward portion of the brake makes contact with an adjustable brake pipe just like SVS. Its basically an SVS clone. I had the same platform in BPS Bionic Plus flavor. It was a...

Sounds like a high end version of the Megabass Hyuga 72H. I LOVE that stick.

Re: Cast Control Unlike Any Other: 13 Fishing Launches the Innovative Z SLIDE Baitcaster
I fail to see how making the reel out of plastic is going to be an improvement in durability over the previous gen. Imagine a Ci4 Metanium, Bantam MGL or even dare I say it... ANTARES... Brown paper bags sales would go through the roof... Your absolutely right in what you said - marketing aside, it...

Re: Cast Control Unlike Any Other: 13 Fishing Launches the Innovative Z SLIDE Baitcaster
How is this different from the dual braking that is found on most reels? Usually the linear mag portion is on the same side as the centrifugal. Moving it to the handle side just strikes me as a gimmick. At least it is different. This was one of my first impressions as well, in addition to getting l...

Re: Cast Control Unlike Any Other: 13 Fishing Launches the Innovative Z SLIDE Baitcaster
Ah I see. A plastic dual brake reel from 13 fishing with their own twist. I wish there were ratings to these high carbon content plastics. I think Zaion is great of drag stars but makes for a loud and unrefined fishing reel when it is used as frame material. Is Zaion still near the top in terms of r...

Re: Round Reel Refinement - The JDM Daiwa Millionaire CT SV70
Every once in a while I go to TW website, open up the Shimano casting reels, and just drool over the 50. At 7.5 oz, I could easily fish it all day. It looks like a finely engineered machine. My birthday's coming up in August (hint, hint). You need a Monoblock in you life. My Racing Milano is under ...

Re: Best Value Is An Accurist Statement from Quantum
Call, does the flipping switch still operate as I recall? When activated the clutch is open as long as the thumbar is held down but as soon as the thumbar is released the clutch engages? I has the last gen and I would use the flipping switch fo pitch baits then fire off a cast only to relax my thumb...

Thanks for the preview, the rods look interesting as enthusiast moving bait sticks.

3 centrifugal reels against the Tatula SV. The Shimano SVS reel will win it unless the test includes skipping baits.

Re: Breaking Free of Middle Child Syndrome, Abu Garcia's Revo4 STX
Did you find the IVCB to be more difficult to dial in than other centrifugal brakes or is the thumbing of the spool and wind more of a general statement about centrifugal brakes? I've had plenty of centrifugal reels and I understand that it is normal to ride your thumb over the spool to slow it at ...
