Re: “Finesse” flipping jigs
Ike's mini flip works well for me.

Re: Best sinking UL line? Fluoro or Ester...or something else?
In my experience FC below about 8lb is virtually indistinguishable from mono in most situations. The line is so fine that the density becomes a negligible factor. I haven't tried fishing light jigs at 20ft extensively, but you're going to have to fish them slow whatever line you use. Ester seems to ...

Re: mno or flouro for UL baitcaster?
Under about 8lb test I cannot notice any advantage to FC over mono. The line is too fine to have the density make a noticeable difference with how the baits fish. Over 8lb there is an obvious difference. I mostly use 7-12 lb line and have not thought much on differences when used on a baitcaster. I...

I thought the same thing. Somewhere between 0.8 and 1.5pe braid would be more appropriate, conventionally.

Re: Tranx update?
Well, I found a 401HG in stock in Germany and bought it, no 301HG to be found anywhere. Expect an announcement of a new Tranx 300 and 400 imminently.

Re: Tranx update?
Thanks for the reply. 301hg variants are thin on the ground in Europe. TW are on my s#it list after mucking me about with an order before Christmas. Even Asian portal seem to be low on some models.

Tranx update?
Does anyone know whether they're updating the Tranx imminently? They seem to be very hard to find in stock anywhere, which makes me wonder.

Re: Diawa Certate Finesse Custom 2004
Probably the anti reverse bearing has got contaminated with oil or grease, that will cause it to spin backwards, particularly in the cold as the grease is thicker. Can't help with the clicker sound. I expect it could be tuned by someone with time on their hands and a little mechanical ability, but f...

Re: Bail touching reel spool issue
The bail wire's bent! Indo the non roller side from the rotor and see where it springs out to, then gently bend it until it's the right shape and sits naturally in the right position and reattach. Sorry, which is the non roller side? And what do I undo the screw? Sorry I’ve never taken apart a spin...

Re: Daiwa Certate not casting far
I would suspect the line is the issue. New braid often has a coating which is slightly sticky, and can hamper casts until it's worn off a bit. Personally I hate J braid, but others love it. If the J braid isn't significantly thicker than the PPV2 on the other reel then I expect it will start to cast...

Re: Braided line tests
Interesting video. I wonder whether the braid diameters were similar or whether they were just the same quoted breaking strain. That's the only variable not addressed in the video.

Hold the blank 5" further up than you would normally hold it and see.
