Re: Spinnerbaits with braid?
Never a time that I don't :D Straight braid or with a leader? Daytime I'll use a leader Not really necc. regardless of clarity. But there are tons of toothy critters (tigers, pure strain, pike and pickerel) So I'll tie an 8 turn alberto knot, (cinched tight with chapstick) and locked with a 4 turn ...

Re: Abu round reel experts???
Ceramic Pawl for level wind Bearings for level wind Ceramic spool bearings The only rockets I've owned were ct's so no levelwind. Not sure if it a dsg or Ndsg on yours I've upgraded all em including the mag elite which imho is the best casting levelwind reel (stock non qtc framed reel out) for fishi...

Re: Daiwa t3 ballistic
All aluminum T3............   Make it in a Light Offshore size say 300-350 yds 100lb HC and space that levelwind a bit further from the spool. And maybe daiwa will gain some traction with the offshore crowd. Saltiga T wing anyone?? Something tells me that a leverdrag T wing ho...

Re: How come no one has commented on the design flaw of the
Pretty sure the "duck call" happens to every reel if the spool is still in motion and you try to dis-engage the spool to cast. Its not just a Revo thing. Never experienced that in any modern FW baitcaster...As when you spin the handle and disengage the thumbar the spool is now in freespool. ONly ti...

Re: How come no one has commented on the design flaw of the
I just got back from my friends shop picked up a pair of patriarchs...continuing my 2012 them of trying "brands/models I've never owned".....And was rooting around at the other revos.....None showed this characteristic......
I'm curious if it's isolated to just the 7.9 MGX

Re: How come no one has commented on the design flaw of the
I've been fishing mine for a month and half or so now. I've never seen/heard the "duck call" issue, nor have I heard of anyone outside this thread comment on it. It'll be interesting to read other comments on it. As far as factory lube, I always tear down all my new reels and clean/lube them before...

How come no one has commented on the design flaw of the REVO
MGX Spin the handle hard and stop it dead.....Sounds like a Duck call (loud as one too)....Happens when the Spool cross pin come out of the notch of the pinion(positive engagement design)?? Happens quite often when reeling up quickly to recast. But only if the bait skips out of the water..... Piss p...

Re: Wind knots and spinning gear ?
I call em snot rockets.....LOL Always chuckle when I see someone get one.....Especially when they just try to pull it out.......Pisses me off when they handline the plug back and cut and leave the scraps......Always cleaning up after slobs. The root cause is mainly Poor line management. Or technique...

Re: Calcutta 200GT TE for Stripers?
I know this is a bit old. But. If your fishing Jersey waters from a boat.......If you are snagging and dropping bunker. You can dump the reel just on the cast itself.....Same goes if you're throwing metals and plugs. Not too mention that there are tons of 40 and 50lb bass around, which are a common ...

I start with removing bulk grease in packed reels (body cavity fully packed with grease.) Remove all parts. place all parts in a plano box and place in parts cleaner. Run for 5 minutes. Hit all pieces with toothbrush real quick and run for another 5. Bearings that are Greased I blow out with butane....

Re: NanoFil -- now available in 3 colors, and heavier weight
I called cabelas yesterday and they didn't have any. The pure fishing website doenst list it either (may not have updated site yet). That stuff would be great for long range surf duty. That line has Shimano Bullseye XT or Albrid written all over it!!!!!!!!!!!!! My only concern would be what kind of ...

Re: Ten Pound Polyethylene Line On Baitcasting Reel??
Are you wacky rigging and if so using orings or braces rubberbands??? As there is nothing worse than rearing back and uncorking a hero cast only to have the senko splash down 3 feet off the boat deck..your hook land at your shoe............Then you look at the spool and curse the fish gods....LOL If...

Re: PowerPro Super 8 Slick, Marine Blue
I was given a few hundred yards of the 40lb brown to try Last week. I fit 310 yards on my Stella SW 8k....And a hair over 100 on a calcutta te dc 200. Fishing in a river and making about 200 casts.. The 6' or so above the alberto is almost a tannish white and unevenly faded.....No wear other than co...
