Re: A NJ Smallie caught on UL tackle
Nice fish, I always look forward to seeing what you've caught and what you've caught them on. Your tackle addiction is about as bad as mine. My "go to" rod at the moment is a Dobyns DX701SF w/ Stradic 1000, not too many $500 crappie rigs being fished

Re: Dobyns Exteme Light Fast finesse Rod
I fish a DX701SF quite a bit. Now this is Tackle Tour so don't think I'm off my rocker but it's my "go to" crappie rod. Along with the crappie I manage a fair amount of "by catch" consisting of bass, white bass, hybrids, and ther occasional catfish. I've landed bass up to ~4#'s with it and haven't h...

Re: Best knot for flouro to braid leader
I read something the other day regarding the Alberto knot that stated that the reason it works as well as it does is that it doesn't really function as a knot per se but more as a sort of whip finish. I wish I could remember where I read that so I could post a link but can't at the moment. It did ma...

Anyone Fish the New Shimano's?
Anyone actually fish one of the new Citica / Curado G series yet? I handled one of the new Citica's at Bass Pro the other day and was less underwhelmed than I had expected. Seems more solid than what I had anticipated and the relatively meaningless but required free spool spin test was as good as th...

Re: Best knot for flouro to braid leader
Alberto / Modified Albright is my go to: http://www.bdoutdoors.com/forums/fishing-tutorials-members/155715-spectra-mono-connection-modified-albright.html I've been using it for over a year tying 10# Fireline to 8# InvisX and haven't broken a line to leader knot yet and I've hung up and broken off pl...

Wow is all I can say.
Send it to Texas and I'll wear some crappie out with it!

Re: 2011 Shimano Crucial IM-10
Possibly....I'm withholding judgement on the new rods until I can see/handle one. Hopefully they did a better job on the rods than they did on the Citica/Curado/Chronarch "upgrade".

IMHO Shimano would have been better off building on the E series by adding to the available gearing options. Even a modest price increase would be better received than what they did I think.

No wonder Bantam took off for Vegas instead of reporting on the new products.......I've been a die hard Shimano supporter until this....now I'm not so sure.

Re: Rumor mill has it...
FWIW, I bought my first Stradics about two years ago. Up until then I had been fishing Sahara's and Symetres and thought the Stradics would be smoother. I was a bit disappointed when that wasn't the case but after a couple of years of fairly heavy use that same pair of Stradics are alot smoother the...

Re: How Versatile is the 765C?
He was, He said it at some point in the show. Agreed, I saw it too. Funny thing is Gary has been fishing Champions every time I see him on there. I'm starting to think the 764 I already have may be all I need for jigs & spoons. On one hand that's not the answer I wanted to hear but on the other han...

Re: How Versatile is the 765C?
Sounds like the 765 may not be what I'm looking for.....decisions, decisions....
I'm looking for something that may not exist....after all this is Tackle Tour...maybe I need to buy more than one rod

Re: How Versatile is the 765C?
I've got a pair of 764C's that I use to c-rig & throw sassy shads for hybrids with. Both rods are rated about the same from a weight standpoint, both max out at 1.5 oz per Dobyns. Is the 765 any more powerful than my 764's? I realize the 764's are rated as H/F while the 765's are rated as MH/F. Gues...
