Both are very nice. You'd be happy with either or just get both!Schlag wrote:Thanks for the detailed review! Love the Alphas platform, just not sure if I want to purchase the Alphas Air or the Aldebaran BFS XG.

50-60 feet. I think adding a good set of bearings may extend that another 10 feet or so.IAY wrote:Awesome write up! What was the casting distance you were getting with the 2 gram stuffs?

Who is anti-bait finnesse? Thanks for the detailed write up. I can't wait to try this reel on my cr721! Is there anything that you would upgrade on the reel? How do you like the drag star? Do you think the cranking power would be improved with a slightly longer handle? A handle is possible, I...

Alphas AIR + super trickster maiden voyage
I did get to make it out to the water yesterday in rather abysmal conditions. A cold front was pushing in so winds were 10-20mph with varying direction so I did what I could to make the most of it. This was my first time using either the alphas air or super trickster rod. The setup: Reel - Daiwa alp...

Little v shaped one that also inserts into the frame? I had to replace mine in my alphas sv due to it launching into outer space. Same one from the pixy. G51-7701 for the lefty

Re: Alphas AIR!!!
Just put it on a super trickster and putting line on it now. I'll test tomorrow most likely. The spool is only .2g heavier than the ss air spool so I'm definitely looking forward to this. Reel total weight is true to spec at 5.9oz

Alphas AIR!!!
Just came in and did some quick pics and measurements. Feels the same as the alphas sv but with a bigger zaion drag star and different color scheme. http://i902.photobucket.com/albums/ac225/ss30378/IMG_0115%20480x640_zpsjf9zy5et.jpg http://i902.photobucket.com/albums/ac225/ss30378/IMG_0116%20480x640...

32mm just got it today and measured.daiwafan wrote:Hey guys
When you get the reel can you measure the spool and post the diameter. One source says its 33 mm and another says its 32 mm.
What I really want to know is if a spool out of any other Alphas will fit in the air version

Re: Alderbaran BFS XG vs. Concept KP
It's really what the user is looking to do with the reel and what he considers bfs. I view the kp as a general purpose reel that is capable of throwing light lures. If 1/8oz total weight is as low as he plans then the kp would be an option and my vote would be alphas sv as best bang for the buck. Th...

Re: Alderbaran BFS XG vs. Concept KP
If you are considering true bfs then step to the xg limited. It will cast down to 1/32oz with the right rod. The KP spool dimensions and capacity match the stock shimano 50e specs very closely and they can go down to about 1/8oz true total weight but cant compare to the bfs capabilities of the xg li...

Light braid has worked fine on all my bfs spools just make sure the drag is set softly.
