Re: Aldebaran, Metanium or Core?
I feel the metanium is definitely the best all around choice out of the 3 listed. I think it would excel in the applications listed. Not knocking the aldebaran, but I just think the metanium is a better all around choice.

Re: Shipping fishing company poll
I would go with FedEx. I've had several issues with UPS and can't recommend them.

Re: Best jerkbait rod?
I use the F4-68X7 cyclone advantage for jerkbaits: its an amazing rod and very addictive when using MB vision 110's and other 1/2oz jerkbaits. It's also a fantastic shallow crank, squarebill, and topwater rod as well. This rod is the real deal and has the perfect taper and amount of backbone for jer...

Re: New dropshot rod: who's got the best?
You have to try one of the new Elites. My ES610MLXF might be the best spinning rod I laid hands on that includes several NRX's. It truely is a fantastic rod from dropshotting to finesse. This is coming from a guy who likes to power fish for smallies this rod just might be the best rod in my boat we...

Re: Megabass EMTF question
In my opinion the EMTF is really close to the 744, with a slightly more parabolic action. I actually bought it to replace my dx 743, but I realized I was better suited for the applications I used to use the dx 744 for, ie, 1/2 spinnerbaits, heavier texas rigs and 3/8 football jigs. I actually sold ...

Re: jerkbait rod
Sorry to bump such an old thread but I was leaning towards the Jerkbait Special for throwing 1.5 squarebills, and was just wondering if this rod would be good for that application? That rod is perfect for 1.5 megabass squarebills. Awesome rod. Another consideration (but more $$) is the megabass X7 ...

Another vote for the 893. I also agree about the 894, especially for larger baits and if fishing cover or grass.

Re: Looking to add another NRX
As far as tip stiffness goes, the 873C CRR rod has a considerably stiffer tip and stronger backbone than the 843C. The 853C and 893C have a similar tip stiffness however they bend into the rods backbone noticeably quicker than the 843C, obviously due to the extra fast rating vs. fast on the 843C. If...

I think you will find that the NRX 893c will be your favorite 3/8oz jig rod, it's really amazing. Most sensitive NRX rod I own.

I would suggest just buying online. Digitaka.com and japanlureshop.com are 2 good online stores. Digitaka has free shipping, and from my experience both places have been great to me.

Re: aluminum/brass gearing
Same here, brass tends to be smoother over time. But with my aluminum geared reels, I make sure to re-grease more often. I prefer brass geared reels, but I must say I love my metaniums (aluminum).
