Daiwa Spin w. folding handle.... (Airity, Luvias?)
Realized that we much prefer folding handles to fit in a particular backpack we have. Obviously they don't look as good as the forged handles in most Daiwas but that's OK. 1. In the nicer Daiwa imports, would I be correct that only the Daiwa Airity and Luvias have folding handles? 2. Does the foldin...

LOL....sharpening my hook huh? Who woulda thunk - brilliant.
Kidding aside, thanks for answering my question. Should have been obvious. Appreciate it.

That roller at the base of Daiwa Luvias/Aegis/Airity etc
Maybe it is something obvious but I'm not clear on the concept. At the corner between the feet and the main body of some of the Daiwa reels mentioned, there's a round roller about 1 cm in width.
What's the purpose of that roller?
Thanks,
UL

Papageno1791,
Curious if your Sephia came and any thoughts relative to other high end reels.

Thanks. Yes, I've the numbers but wanted specific physical diameter/width characteristics to figure out some casting impact.

Daiwa 2506 & 2004 Spool DIAMETER & WIDTH
I've a 2506 coming but do not have access to a 2004 by Daiwa.
Wondering what is the spool diameter and WIDTH (not depth) where the line lays. (Not the whole spool.)
Thanks,
MTMT

Re: Some new shimano Spinning Reels
Well...that Twinpower Searea double handle actually makes sense. It has a drag capability of 22lbs and is for larger fish. The double handle allows an a child to crank on one side and an adult to help on the other side since a large enough fish can presumably overpower a young child...:) It is reall...

Re: Question regarding light-rod length
Shimanoman, THANKS for all your help. It was you who tipped me onto the Shimano telescopics. From all the reps/dealers I spoke with. I'm referring to their 'top of the line' telescopics that compresses down to 1 foot length. The canadian versions are about 2 feet long at the shortest if I understand...

Re: Making sense of Sunline Fluorocarbons....
Doug, THANKS. The info you provide is invaluable to me in understanding the Sunline choices. In short, this is my understanding: 1. The colored lines are not necessarily less visible in wide open clear water. 2. If I want 2,3,4 lb CLEAR uncolored fluoro, the only choice is Sniper and not Shooter rig...

Imagine if Daiwa made the Steez in the size 1000. Sub 5 ounces possible? Doubt that they will but interesting thought.

Re: Is the Shimano twinpower 2500 the best value?
A bit curious. With the Daiwa Exist 2500 coming in at 6.9 oz, who makes the absolute lightest size 1000 spin reel? (Avoiding the cheapie Wally 'throwaway' models.)

Re: Making sense of Sunline Fluorocarbons....
Doug,
I'm still wondering about this question. For leaders and clarity, won't one want clear fluorocarbon? Why does Sunline make flouro in multiple colors? Doesn't that reduce transparency? Colored fluoro seems more visible than clear mono to me.....
Thanks,
UL

Re: Question regarding light-rod length
Fishing Fanboy, Would you be willing to help direct us to some sites ? The ones I've found were not quite the quality that I'd like and since these Shimanos are no longer made, would love to see alternative high quality telescopics. (i.e. 8 guides, short sections, all graphite, lightweight etc) Than...
