I agree. I really like the looks and performance of the current metanium.
I'm not liking the looks of the new model.

Re: Help me make a choice guys!
You can get too lightly used ones for almost the price of a new core mg7. You just have to shop around.

Re: Lews Baitcast Reel and Reel Grips Question
Yes they can.
I haven't done it myself but I have seen other people do it.
The knobs can also interchange with Abu and bass pro reels.
That's what I have done to all of mine.

The Core Mg7 also weighs more at 6.7 oz which should help balance out a longer rod.

Re: Rethinking my Shimano Faith
I think a new core will be coming out.
Japan tackle already has the Japanese version for sale on their site.
I'm not sure if I like the way it looks.

Re: 1st Spinning Reel
I use #6 trilene xl for most of my ultra light fishing. I love to throw ultra light crankbaits around bridge pilings. I use power pro when sensitivity is an issue.

Re: Bitsy minnow @ walmart
One problem that I've had with these lures is that the bills are very weak and break easily. Also certain ones don't want to run strait, even after adjusting. For the money the cheap $2 Cordell ultra light crankbaits at the bottom of the shelves in the boxes are a great deal. These things run good a...

Re: 1st Spinning Reel
I use 10 to 15 lbs power pro on my light action spinning rods. Since 10 lbs power pro has a very thin diameter it will cast pretty good. I can throw 1/16 and 1/8 oz pretty good on it.

Re: Lew's Tourney Pro VS. Team Lew's
I have had both reels. To me, I didn't notice any difference in performance. Both are super smooth. The team Lew's weighs a little more and looks cooler but that's about it. The tournament pro comes in three gear ratios while the team Lew's just comes in two. Both are still available at tackle wareh...

Re: Primer on Lews reels
I have several of the BB1 and think they are very good cranking reels. I'm not sure if I like the non-instant anti-reverse though. I guest it just takes some getting use too since all my other reels have it. Other than that, I really like the way they cast and palm. I'm not sure why but I am having ...
