What’s better, the Zillion TW SV spool or a stock Megabass IS71 spool to throw light jigs?
I got a MB is71 and the steez sv103 and I’ll be using the Mb is71 frame for the X-Bites because it weighs less but I was wondering what spool to use.
Steez frame will be used on an Otomat for topwaters.

Re: Replacement spools for SV103XS and MB IP79
I can dump an entire spool of 50# braid on the HLC with a Terminator Walking Frog. The spool is a monster. Cast it like you mean it or it won't even try and brake. Every cast needs to be a bomb cast. Many get afraid of it and that's why they come up for sale from time to time. Put it over your shou...

Re: Replacement spools for SV103XS and MB IP79
I would try to get a Zillion TW SV spool for the Steez. Its a faster SV spool that can still skip and do normal SV spool things. For the IP you want a TD Zillion spool. Your options are stock TD Zillion spools like the HLC or aftermarket ones like the 36mm Amo spool. I have the HLC and it's a bombe...

Replacement spools for SV103XS and MB IP79
Hey guys, Was having issues last season with my Davies Steeze SV103XS spool and it’s time to get a new one. As I was removing the line I decided to replace the line on my Megabass IP79 and dropped the spool while doing so that put a small dent on it. I then thought maybe I can bend it back with plie...

Re: Megabass rods keep breaking while casting
I have owned Megabass rods in the past. I still own a Whipsnake. There are too many posts about breakages. You don’t see that with Loomis products. Personally, if I’m going to spend Destroyer kind of money, I want the peace of mind from a lifetime warranty. Making a thin blank that is ultra sensiti...

Re: Daiwa Certate not casting far
I didn't think the spools were that diff in diameter, maybe 2 mm or something? Is the braid on both spools worn in the same? The tatula has always casted good. Braid on it is one season old. I just got the Certate and put brand new 20lb j braid. I never used j braid, just power pro super slick v2 b...

Re: Daiwa Certate not casting far
Measure the diameter of the spools (Tatula and Certate). If my memory is correct the new generation LT reels have smaller diameter spools so one needs to upsize. I was watching Seth Feider the other he is going for 4000 size reels since the new LT reels are much lighter and he is going for the bigg...

Re: Daiwa Certate not casting far
As Good Year mentions... "choke"... Set-up a Gopro on burst and cast the rod in front of it and review the images and you'll see the line go through the train and see any evidence of line slap and so forth. Few screen grabs of my build and "choke tests" IMG_20210727_183539.jpg IMG_20210727_183516.j...

Re: Daiwa Certate not casting far
I'm going out on a limb because realistically your options as to 'why' in this case are limited. I come back to the same thought, because years back it happened to me, in that 2500 vs 3000 series have a different size spool. This is obvious, and while generally insignificant given size proximity, i...

Re: Daiwa Certate not casting far
It’s probably the braid is catching on itself and cutting distance. You might try to re-spool it with more tension on the line and see if that corrects it. I’ve had had this happen fresh after filling it on the first cast, even when I thought I had it good. Check and see if after the cast the line ...

Re: Daiwa Certate not casting far
Is the reel spooled all the way? If it is underspooled the lip will slow down the line coming off the spool more significantly. Otherwise, if you use exact same rod, line, leader length, lure weight then the only other reason would be your casting stroke since the spool is fixed. It was definitely ...

Daiwa Certate not casting far
Hey guys, So I purchased a “brand new” Daiwa Certate LT 3000CXH off eBay for a decent price but after adding 20lb j braid and 8lb fluoro leader, for some reason the casting is stopping a lot shorter than I expected. The reel was open box but brand new so I don’t know if there’s any issues. I’m compa...
