Re: Next TDZ Project: 100M
Sounds to me like you need more reels! Thinking one gloss black to lead and a good dozen in pearl or some sort of gloss white. Use the force!

Re: Aldebaran, Metanium or Core?
Lightly used cores can be found for well under $300. I have seen many with just a few small imperfections go for $250 or less. The Scorpion 1000xt and Chornarch 50E often show up for under $170 lightly used. Very similar to the Core. Differences more or less can be found in the gear ratio, weight of...

Re: Furthest Casting LP baitcaster?
Thanks AB, I may just pick the purple spool... why b/c it will match the MX 8.1's purple parts!

Possibly, however I felt the older GLX was the gold standard to where all other rods are judged when it comes to feel alone. They were really ahead of their time back then and not many rod manufacturers existed nor did bass rods in that price range.

Re: Tackle Tour needs a jwr shootout for 2015, who agrees?
Would love to see this. Maybe include 10 rods in there just so we can have a "top 10 list". As noted above you can't measure sensitivity. It would be like trying to find out what reel is the smoothest. There isn't a test that you can do quantify it. The other thing to consider would you only want cu...

Re: Furthest Casting LP baitcaster?
Has to be the T3 for me,also the most fun to fish I can live without TWS on a reel, just leave my pop up hood alone  I believe my T3 MX was purchased thanks to your T3 love  . Are there much differences in sheer casting distance among T3 variants in that 3\8 to 3/4 oz range. Sorry, missed t...

Re: Furthest Casting LP baitcaster?
I have a 13 Met, 15 Met DC, Chronarch CI4+, Curado 200I and CQ100 in the "newer" SVS infinity reels. They all perform great but for some reason the Chronarch CI4+ impresses me the most with casting distance. I believe it has to do with the rod it is on (XX Jerkbait special) but its distance is very...

Re: Dobyns Extreme HP up on website
Thanks for the clarification guys! I only saw the post on UB my MC noting the only changes were cosmetic which ended up being a mistyping. I had a hard time believing this as it almost looks like a textured carbon weave pattern similar to what you would find on K2 or MB Orichi XX rod.

Re: Downsize Help Needed.
I did this 2 seasons ago. I cut my Arsenal from 22 to 16. I had gone a little crazy with technique specific rods and found that I had rods that I didn't use very often. I had rods that were close in power and action. I replaced 2 rods with 1 more versatile rod. I also had 4 spinning setups and I cu...

Re: Dobyns Extreme HP up on website
I haven't really been able to fish much this year (relatively speaking). Been times when I've missed a whole week...haha. Seriously though, I've been a lot more involved with my daughter's swim team, work, etc, etc. That said, I haven't been posting as much although I've been lurking. It also means...

Re: Dobyns Extreme HP up on website
Both of my champ extremes have good quality cork and have held up well after a few years of use. My biggest complaint seems to be a lack of models offered in the new champ extreme casting line. All rods seem to be 3, 4, or 5 powered. Gone are the 1 and 2 powered rods according to what I see on TW. I...

Re: Furthest Casting LP baitcaster?
I have owned, tweaked and fished most of the LP reels from both Daiwa & Shimano over the past 2 years. No round profile for me, even though I had a Morrum AE74 by ZPI some time ago... Out of the bunch, the Shimano Antares DC was one of the longest distance casters. I own the new Antares now and is ...

Re: jerkbait rod
X2. I use mine for the same as well as a "mag" finesse rod.BucketHunter wrote:IF you can find one a Cumulus 610MH makes just about the most perfect jerkbait I can imagine. Incredibly crisp and quick on the twitch with the most supple action when you load up on the hookset. Perfect power for open water fish fighting.
