Re: Does made in USA matter?

Made in the USA matters little to me as far as quality goes. There are great fly rods from both sides of the pond. Fly rods can vary wildly just based on the line weight. There are $800 Sage rods that may be amazing in certain line weights, but a different line weight from the same series may be me...

Re: Looking for some help/advice on surf casting for striper

Hmmm. Was really hoping that I can try out fishing with the old combo before deciding whether I want to invest more money in it. I have to drive at least 1.5 hours to Chesapeake Bay and 4-5 hours to the Atlantic Ocean so really don't want to buy something blind especially if I don't do it consisten...

Re: Treble hooks and lipless cranks help please

Just remember that if your replacement hooks are heavier or lighter, then it could affect the action of the lure :) I learned this hardway :D

Just doing a WhoIs lookup you can see the person who owns this site put in some bogus information. Definitely a scam.

I personally prefer the non-Type R as I really saw no differences in performance from testing the Type R.

2+ for me as well. If it's something I REALLY like, then 5+. In inshore fishing which I do more than anything, I'll carry 10+ bucktails :P

Re: Most abrasion resistant line (non flouro)

I like Sufix Tritanium Plus. Had it rub some pylons with a striper hooked on, it was definitely torn up but I brought the fish up no problem :D Been using it for 5+ years.

Re: Need help choosing rod for Shimano Calais DC!

The Megabass X4 Destruction is definitely worth a look. I have fished 1/2oz baits on mine, and I have been very pleased with the results. I have a Calcutta 201DC on mine, and it is a thing of beauty...so much fun to fish. I REALLY want to try out the Megabass X4 rods, but to be honest, I'm a little...

Re: Best Copolymer

Sufix Tritanium Plus. It's what a bunch of the East Coast guys use for surf fishing. Abrasion resistance is amazing and the breaking strength in relation to diameter as well. I'll have to give McCoy a shot though, haven't tried it before.

Re: Shimano 12 Ultegra / Shimano Saros FA

What do you guys think the chances are that handle knob will come off? That could be a deal breaker. It appears that the handle knob is removable, and is just a regular septon knob in the pictures, but I don't know for sure. I've used a buddy's saros a couple of times, and it's a pretty smooth reel...

Re: Rod company with best warranty?

I personally think Shimano's OTC warranty for its rods is absolutely amazing. I've used it on their Teramar series as needed. However, I do think St. Croix's is quite the deal as well. Both their replacement/upgrade program.
