Re: Check Practicality at the Door : Evergreen's Leopard

I would be on the opposite side. I want my crankbait rods to have hook keepers.

Re: Helium 3 or Dobyns DX

You guys all know I'm a big Dobyns fan.....so maybe take my opinion with a grain of salt. I will say, and I really doubt anyone would disagree, that the new DX HP rods are a better rod than the 'old' DX. IMO, there are a couple things that make the rod more sensitive in hand. First, and foremost, is...

Re: Tackle Warehouse Customer Service Rod Review

Bummed you had a bad experience with them. I've had nothing but great service buying, and at times returning/exchanging, gear since 2007.

Re: Dobyns Extreme HP up on website

I prefer the action of the champion sticks. Honestly, I don't see the point in spending the extra money for moving bait presentations. Whether fishing a swimjig, paddletail or chatterbait, seems to me you want the fish to 'eat' the bait. I use my champion 734 for swimjigs with 3/8oz head & kicker fi...

Re: Dobyns light jig, finesse plastics rod

I have the DX 743HP (casting). Dobyns increased the power in the upper third of the blank on this series so with that said, the 742 would be the better choice in that weight rage and bait selection. I agree. The DX743C HP is more powerful than the previous DX743C. I'm going to be getting a DX742C H...

Re: General rod quality ... Or the lack of :(

Its a pain to return but if you're OCD like I am it will bother me every time I look at those rods. Same with me. Had the problem with an impulse purchase (rod) from a retailer a couple hours away. It was a hassle to return but I knew it would bother me every time. I called up the store & they told...

Re: Budget Swimbait Rod

Take a look at the Dobyns Fury FR795SB. Although I haven't fished this model in the Fury series, my Champion 795SB is really a very versatile and awesome swimbait stick. Highly regarded in reviews & by forum members. I have purchased a couple of the other Fury rods for moving baits & have been impre...

It won't be from me. I don't have as much "extra money" since my son went away to college. I still have great toys just not money in the budget to keep buying rods just to 'test' them out.

Re: Dobyns Champion Extreme HP video = new DX rods

Just got a DX742 HP and with the few trips I used it on I was very impressed. Now I plan on upgrading my other DX rods. what about it makes you want to upgrade and what do you use the 2 powered rod for? I can't seem to find much reason to get excited about a 2p rod. Really depends on where (conditi...

Re: new stuff is better

Well I guess it depends on which reels you're talking about. I do like my Curado I reels but I wish I didn't sell off (almost) all those Chronarch D's. There was just something special about them. I keep thinking about trying a Metanium. The price scares me though.....if I like it too much it could ...

Re: Dobyns Extreme HP up on website

I seem to recall reading several places that the "blank" was the exact same thing with only cosmetic changes. Apparently this doesn't seem to be the case. Even the look of the new extremes blanks seem different than the previous generation. Good to know that they seem improved in both feel and weig...

Re: Dobyns Extreme HP up on website

So.....I'm thinking, based on action & sensitivity, higher modulus materials....... . so how noticeable is the sensitivity upgrade? also, given the faster tip, do u feel it's kinda in between a f & xf now? thx Remember that I've only fished it one time. The sensitivity is noticeable. It isn't night...
