Re: Five Footers

I've only cast it a total of an hour or so, but it is joy to use.

Re: Single hook in-line spinner hooking quality

I like the looks of the VMC #7239O Open Eye Barbless Spinner Hook (sizes to a #12), but they're not available that I can find in the US. The UK supplier won't ship to the US. It allows for direct attachment of the hook without using a split ring (which I find usually impairs the action).

Re: What replaced the Pixy?

Personally I think it's a great reel. I had been using a 100 series Calcutta (the silver one), which was a nice reel for it's time (and still is). The low profile and weight are what I like the most. A PX68 on a Loomis IMX CR721 is a well balanced outfit.

Re: Rod for light (1/64th ounce) jigs

I own quite a few rods rated on low end as follows....1/250......1/100.....1/64. There are a lot of JDM rods that are rated to cast 1/64 and even lower. The Tict Ice Cube Rockin Drift can cast a 1/64 Trout Magnet quite well....it can also cast a 1/8 at the top end. I have a Volkey that is rated for...

The IMX version is my favorite ultralight, I've had mine since 1995. It's not the latest technology but is one nice rod.

Re: Five Footers

Dang Chris, that is weakening my resolve. I have the same reel, how does it balance on that rod? And does the reel seat secure it well?

Re: Bass Pro has purchased Cabela's...

I did a lot of business with Cabela's from the early to mid 70's. They might have been the only mail order business that offered the full Fenwick line (a really nice rod at the time). The market just got saturated, as it does when others jump on a good idea. The internet has killed most brick and mo...

Re: Cold weather Bass

I use a very light drop shot rig for trout, a trout worm nose hooked with a #10 Owner. Drifts pretty naturally in the stream with easy re-rigs if the rocks grab the sinker.

Re: Cold weather Bass

Bringing this one back up. I've caught some nice bass on ultralights over the years, at one time in the early 70's it was all I used. A Mitchell 409 with a Conolon 5' 6" two piece rod was my go to rig. It was stiffer than the 5' Conolon rod, and had an aluminum reel seat instead of the sliding rings...

For me, it would be Homer Circle. There will never be another like him.

Keitech Little Spider 2"

Is a jig head with a #2 hook too large for this bait?
