Re: Pixy vs alphas bfs reel

Poisonoakie speaks truth. Picked up a airy red Zilla and paired it with a dx702. Fun to use. Honoring the “tt” way, I purchased a is 73 & sent it to dr Shields. Minor surgery and mb honeycomb spool: beautiful. Spool only saw tatsu. Upon board recommendation, bought a mb Themis. Beautiful, feather li...

Re: Pixy vs alphas bfs reel

I'm sure you guys are tired of me by now but one last question. Kind of hard to answer unless you have tried them. I've been digging up as many old posts as I can on them. Kind of seems silly to spend the money when the ASC can be had for around $250 and the Alphas Air used for $200 or less. -How d...

Re: ML Fast/Xfast recommendations

Nailed it Chris. Well played =D> Thanks, got the knobs and spool from you so and saw an old picture of your reel before hand lol. Just missing the red drag star. Do you think red knobs would look better or stick with the white? I like the white myself, especially with that stick. Thanks for all the...

Re: Help with my Sol

Also any of you ever try the zonda bf spool? No, but it's probably trash. You know where one is? I was looking through auctions on buyee for different reels and parts and came across this https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t638435456 Probably kind of expensive after it's all said and done...

Re: Pixy vs alphas bfs reel

FWIW I have my Alphas ASC mounted on that 64UL and it's an excellent match. My Air is on the 65L, and I have an SV Light on the 68ML. I use my SV105 on the 69M and it's well suited for that rod. I wouldn't really want to use it on any of the lighter powered models, though. It's a ML-M, 1/4-5/8 type...

Re: ML Fast/Xfast recommendations

I might have to try my Steez on that rod. They look great together! What reel do you have on yours right now? I did the highly scientific balance test by putting the setup on my finger and it seemed to balance right on the locking nut (I think that's what it's called. I did just wake up and was fee...

Re: Help with my Sol

If you're trying to cast lures around 1/4 oz and up, the SV105 will do just fine and should go on the mlr rod. If you're shooting for say, a #5 shad rap, the Sol with the honeycomb is a better choice, especially if it has the stock 5.8 gears. Those reels really should do fine with any of the 3 rods...

Re: Opinions, new spool SV105

It's virtually the same performance as in the Sol/Alphas. A great compromise of distance and control, and better distance than the SV spool with anything 1/4 oz or more. I had an Alphas spool in one of my SV105's(rod was an Adrena 6-10M), and it was my dedicated spinnerbait/squarebill combo. Sounds...

I did. It worked just fine.
How was it compared to the stock sv spool?

Anyone stick a regular Daiwa Sol spool in their SV105s?
Did you ever try the Sol spool in the sv105?
