I have the 7' MLXF Villian 2.0. Up to 3/8 and its golden. I haven't tried anything over a out 3/8 total, but the sensitivity is definitely there, and the rod is light and well-balanced, too.

Are they discontinued?

That thin washer sounds to be damaged from over-tightening the nut. Get another one of those and you should be ok. I've doubled those up if there is visual damage to the back of the handle where it hits the shoulders on the drive shaft.
