Re: SV103- too smooth?
Whew- didn't think the sharks would be circling so early! My Steez reels are super smooth, but don't have that disconnected feeling. They're not geary, say like a Chronarch MGL or Met 13 I had. Not a big fan of the paddle knobs either- perhaps I could try some firmer ones. I'll put a SV105 on the FM...

SV103- too smooth?
I have a SV103H and compared to my other reels (Steez 103H, Steez A TW, Steez SV TWS) I find it very 'disconnected'- zero feedback. I've put a RCS 1016 spool in and no difference. I've tried FC and braid lines, different rods- it's like there's no reel attached. Yes, it's smooth; butter, glass, tefl...

Re: Daiwa Steez SV 103XSL
I've got a Steez SV103 h, Steez SV TW, Steez SV A, and a SV103. The Steez SV TW is just amazing- except for that 80mm handle. The Steez SV103 holds it own but doesn't feel as substantial (if that's a word for these reels). The A is a workhorse- just an all around great reel- probably my favorite. I ...

Re: Megabass Orochi XX... What’s next for the USDM??
Back on track it is then! 2018 Orochi XX Ronin with a Shimano Exsence Ci4+ 3000HGM (10# Sufix braid) Went out last weekend kayaking open water (lake) here in NC and caught a couple of nice size bass (lost a couple too). Handled 1/2oz. topwater, 3/8oz. crankbait, Texas rigged lizard, Vision 110 jerk,...

Re: NEW Megabass Sonic Side crank
Those look nice! Chartreuse Dust is my color of choice. Any guess on how it fishes compared to a DT-6?
I may need to head over to TTT.

That would be pretty sweet if they get to us by the following weekend.

Re: Megabass XX or Kistler HE3 spinning for jerkbaits
No suggestions, eh?
Alright, how about any spinning rod for jerkbaits? Price cap at $300.
I also want the rod to do double duty for inshore fishing.

Megabass XX or Kistler HE3 spinning for jerkbaits
Looking to setup a spinning jerkbait (primarily) rod. I have an Light MH/Fast HE3 casting rod and it's awesome, but I'm intrigued by the new XX Ronin. I've got a NRX 852S, but I'd like to throw the Ito Shiner, Vision 110, etc. which are 1/2oz. but 3/8oz.-3/4oz. is the range I'm looking for. Rods are...

Re: Which 2 rods and reels are you guys going to mainly use this season?
Since I mainly kayak fish, I'm looking for versatility:
Loomis GLX 844 MBR with a 13 Met and 30# Sufix 832 w/leader
Loomis NRX 852s with a 14 Exsence Ci4+ 3000 and 10# Sufix 832 w/leader
and I'll sneak this one in as well:
Loomis GLX 845 CBR with a Chronarch MGL and 30# Sufix 832 w/leader

Re: Why no love for the E6X?
I've got a couple of the Inshore E6X that I love- but they are unique (tapers, actions, etc.). I enjoyed my IMX (JWR, MBR) rods till I moved up to GLX, then I understood what all the talk was/is about. :) Just got a NRX spinning, but haven't fished with it yet (argh!)- expectations are high. I'll ec...

Re: RCS 1016 (T3) vs. Zillion SV G1 spool
I picked up a 1016 spool for my SV103 but haven't used it yet. Maybe I load it up and do a test this weekend. Of course I've been wondering if I should have gotten the G1....

Re: Steez SV (non TW)
Ive got a Steez SV and a Met13- the Steez palms great but so does the Met. I guess thats not terribly helpful. Ive got small'ish hands but both reels feel good IMHO. The Steez, as folks said, sits lower and a tad squatter. The SV103 also palms 'right' to me.

Re: Daiwa SV103 drag star question
Always too tight. Thanks for the link- I'll go check that out.
Update:
I checked and it appears the collar on the SV103 is too small for the Zaion drag star- which is causing the drag star to be too tight. The SV105 collar works though. I'll search for a replacement collar.

Re: Daiwa SV103 drag star question
So I went and got a Zion drag star for my SV103, and for the life of me can't figure out why it won't "work". Once installed, I can't tighten or loosen the drag star.
I replaced my SV105 drag star with no problem. Any advice?

Re: Reel Boxes
I keep my boxes as well.. not sure why, I guess why is what has been mentioned- for resale. However I'll buy a used reel without box & etc. (if it's priced right and has been taken care of). Of course I'm that guy who keeps all his moving boxes... I have some from the early 90s- and they still work ...
