Re: What Knot?
I'm a big fan of the FG, but recently switched to the modified Albright. I've had a couple/few FG knots fail and I know it was my fault, but darn. I always test the heck out of them prior to use. I guess it's a confidence thing now. I should try the Alberto as well..
Re: Biospawn
I have a lot of the craws (bulk purchase from someone) in assorted colors and I haven't used any yet. Maybe tomorrow is the day (thanks to this thread). Fishing murky water, sandy bottom, no structure about 11'- 18' depth. Any recommendations for this time of the year? Raleigh, NC area (Falls Lake)....

I didn't think the 'unlimited' budget category would be have as many votes, but I totally understand.

Re: Which is your favorite rod company?
After multiple St.croix, Shimano, Loomis, and Megabass tours, I’m back with Kistler. For me, they just fish right. Nothing against or wrong with other manufacturer’s lineups, and it’s been a fun journey to try and fish with multiple high end rods (and quite a privilege/luxury).

Re: Let's see that backlash!
This thread has made me feel okay about my 'overruns'. :) I'm still surprised that with a little time and patience I can get most resolved. There are times however when the scissors come out! I've had a few on the water when the bite was strong and didn't have the 'right' setup but fished with somet...

Re: Securing braid to the rod?
Good suggestion to loosen the drag- when I go straight braid that's what I do. I see a lot of folks with the rod tips bent when they secure the hook to the rod. As nice as I can (sometimes, depending on the situation) I mention, perhaps they should back off a bit in case that hook comes off into som...

Re: Ultralight Spinning Reel for Wading
I'll vote for a Daiwa Luvias (harder to find) though I am sooo close to pulling the trigger on a Certate LT.
I really like the mag seal. I haven't had any issues with them yet.

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
Righty, reel with the left. Looking at the poll, I thought it would be reversed. Interesting. My father-in-law got me into casting and he uses right handed casting reels. It took a little bit for me to 'get it' since I used spinning reels since I was a kid. Now it feels second nature, but there are ...

Re: Casting Rods... What will you spend?
Like a lot, I started with inexpensive rods, then migrated to the mid $500 range. Do I catch more fish? Prolly not. Do I enjoy it more? Definitely, as I can fish longer (due to lighter weight) and I can tell a distinct difference in how these rods fish compared to less expensive ones. For example, t...

Re: Power Pro Super 8 Slick V2
Thanks. How is the color holding out? I really like Sufix 832, but after a few sessions, it does turn white'ish. Yeah, I've used the Sharpie trick.

Re: Almost a kayak . . . better than a kayak?
Brad, Very interesting concept, thanks for the review and posting. There have been a few times when I'd wanted to take a person with me kayaking, but didn't have a kayak. One of my main considerations when selecting a vessel was weight. I went with a Jackson Cuda LT and have been very happy with it....
