Re: Is it just me or is the XRap..
Snidely, thanks for the post on the weight. I had no real idea with out scales but since you are from the great north I know it's a very good educated guess on your end. It was a great fight to watch my son and that big of fish go at it. I am just glad I didn't mess things up when I netted it. As mo...

Re: Which braid for frogs?
50# suffix braid. I've had way too many break offs from heavier power pro (50-100). The suffix casts so much smoother and doesn't dig in quite as bad.

Re: Braid or Mono for Swimbaits? Does it matter
Use braid, but not powerpro. I use 80 lb braid exclusively for muskie fishing. I had powerpro snap. Tuff-line XP will not. I've been using lures up to 14 oz for years and never had a breakoff with 80 lb tuff xp. Powerpro, stealth, and tuffline plus are a different story.

That one isn't too old. 1980's model I'd guess. But I could be wrong.

Re: Shimano Calcutta (400B) or Abu Garcia Record RCN 60 Reel
I know a lot of muskie guys have had problems with the roller bearing. I guess the cage is made of plastic and breaks easily. (On the Record) The calcutta has been around a long time and is proven. That said...I'd suggest a Luna.

Re: What's with the fishing gloves?
I won't unhook a muskie without gloves anymore...1 trip to the hospitol is enough. It not the teeth that bother me...its the power to throw hooks into your hands.

Re: Free St.Croix rod
I work in a store that sells St. Croixs. I really like Croixs and own many, but will not own a triumph. I've seen a few of them where the eyes were not lined up.
By the way, the triumphs are made in China, not Park Falls, Wisconsin.

Gamma and McCoy are both great lines. I use them on both spinning and baitcasting reels.

Re: Daiwa Luna?
Whats the gear ratio on the 203? If its 6:1, forget about it. Muskie cranks and bucktails will burn those gears out in no time. I only use high speed (Curado 300) reels for jerkbaits. Also, what kind of line do you use with such a small reel? A 253 is as small as I'd want to go with 80 lb braid. And...

Since buying my first daiwa spinning reel...stradics feel like a $10 zebco.

How to store soft plastics?
How does everyone store soft platic bags in their boat? I've tried worm binders and the falcon bag...not big enough and not easy enough to find what I need. Is there a good option out there for over 50 bags?

Re: Best "larger" low profile baitcaster
The Curado 300 is not the best for people with large hands. My fingers go all the way across and hit the handle sideplate on mine. It doesn't bother me after a few minutes, but it is definitely different.

I hate the feel of the gator grips, but use them because I've broken every abu handle within 2 trips.
