Re: new e21 rods
The new e21 rods have been designed by an entirely different person who had lots of experience at several rod compnaies - including developing the IMX at Loomis. He likes to stay in the shadows, so I won't air his name. The blanks are totally different than previous Carrots. Why is it that when som...

New Daiwa "Z" reels - What's going on?
I was not fortunate enough to own one of the prized TD-Z reels. When these were rumored I got my hopes up but they immediately went down when I saw they weighed almost 10oz. Are these more for swimbaits or what? why the weight? Can anyone shed some light on this situation? I guess they are the 200's...

Re: ICAST '11 Spinning reels - best bang for the buck?
I have the Daiwa Advantage and Daiwa Tierra spinning reels. The new models, the Ballistic, Procyon, and Aird, seem to be just improvement on already great reels. I will definitely pick at least one up. But I am a Daiwa guy and you can't trust us. We are too biased.

Re: so, I have a Pixy Type R coming...
Wife got me one for our anniversary... So, is this considered going to the dark side? Or is it ok since it's USDM? Also, I plan on using it with 10 lb test (or braid equivalent) to throw trick worms, small cranks and spinnerbaits... So, what can I expect? (never used a pixy before). Ahhh Lucky.... ...

Re: Daiwa Ballistic Spinning Vs Shimano Stradic FJ
Agreed Daiwa all the way unless you are a nostalgic type and like the old white Stradic and can't wait to play with the new one.

Re: Daiwa T3 vs Abu Barcia MGX
T3 all the way! It makes sense all the way as far as the T shaped line guide are concerned with casting distance. Unless you are looking to make a sub 10oz combo I would go with the T3.

Iaconelli fishing Devil's Spear at ICAST
Did anybody see Iaconelli fishing the Devil's Spear at ICAST? He cut the tail down the middle and it seemed to give it more action. Anyone tried this yet and have any success?

Worm Gear Bearing for Sol, Viento, Zillion CC, TD-X?
I have a Zillion 50th that has the worm gear bearing standard and wondered if it is the same bearing for upgrading the Sol and Zillion CC's. Also Can the Viento and TD-X 103HSDF accept the bearing upgrade and has anyone tried it and do you think it makes a difference? Thanks for any input.

Daiwa L&T Swimbait Rod Sell or Keep?
I have a Daiwa L&T 8'H and have no real use for it here in Nebraska other than for catfish but I don't fish for catfish. I bought it for a trip to Lake Dixon that never ended up happening. What are some of your opinions on the rod? And should I keep it, sell it, or trade it off?

Re: Opinions on a rod for the following conditions...
Duckett 6'9"M Cranking Rod or the Quantum KVD 6'8"M both will be about $150ish. It is going to be tough to find a good rod with those size restrictions. If you went to 7' then your possibilities would be endless I guess I'm blind! I missed the whole spinning part. I personally like the Dobyns Savvy...

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. The Steez is the bee's knees. You won't be disappointed.

Re: Cranking Reels
Daiwa Crazy Cranker is the way to go if you like to fish cranks slow for they are only a 4.9:1 gear ratio. I have 2 and would give them up unless they came out with one that weighed about 2oz less with the same gear ratio. But, you can get Winches at Cabela's for about $170. Either way you can't go ...

If they make a good swim jig rod then I might have to pick one up.
