Re: BFS Calcutta Conquest - casting
Aldebaran BFS has same spool as Conquest BFS. Still new CT Steez surpassed BFS Shimano with stock spool. I’m sure the new steez cast light baits very well but I doubt it does as well as the Shimano BFS reels, but hey I could be wrong. Tested it myself. Same rod, same line, same lure. 2,6g cra...

Re: Talk me off the ledge please
i bought a used xf50L off here for $30 to see what all the hype is about. And to my surprise its a solid reel. I tried 8lb fluoro with 1/8oz crappie jigs and it threw them fine. Surprised cause its like a 12-13 gram spool. I have so much bfs stuff i decided to spool it with 30lb braid and now its my...

Re: Alphas finesse spools
After using the ktf v2, cosugi works, and zonda spool, my recommendation would be the megabass route. It’s the easiest to find and offers great performance.

Yea, fenwick doesn’t offer any bfs rods for the US market.Dalleinf wrote:The Hoolgan, thanks for showing those gorgeous setups. Are the Fenwick rods all JDM? Cant seem to find many L/ML Fenwick rods in U S shops.

Re: BFS and Trout baitcast combos
My current lineup although its always changing. Fenwick pmx 6'6L P&J / Z-pride limited. Fenwick Golden Wing KTF 6ftL / ZPI 732 aldebaran mg7. And Fenwick Super Techna KTF 6ft L / 16 Aldebaran bfs 6:5 model. Ill most likely drop a ktf spool in this one. Also have a 6'5L expride that is a favorite. ht...

Re: BFS Line Conundrum
Im not buying the light line tension thing. Ive caught many 5-7lb bass/stripers on 4lb fluoro. My only worries would be fishing braid on an avail honeycomb spool. The megabass honeycomb is actually a pretty sturdy spool and can handle braid fine. Same with the alpha air stream spool. Id personally f...

Re: If I need new BFS reel?
i upgrade all my bfs reels to zpi sic or yt fusion bearings but to be honest, factory shimano/daiwa bearings are excellent.

Re: The Most Coveted rods of the X7 line up are?
I think the super eiger goes down as the best rod in the lineup. Used ones sell immediately and its just an awesome medium light/medium powered rod. Definitely more of a medium power imo, ive actually done open water froggin on mine in the past. I love the super criffhanger and shading-x as well for...

Re: If I need new BFS reel?
I was always under the impression that the jdm fenwicks were made in japan. When my KTF super techna showed up with the made in china sticker on it i was little disappointed. But, once you handle it and see the build quality you quickly forget, lol. Same with my X7's, always thought they were jdm a...

Re: Alphas air stream custom
that bearing with sleeve is almost 2 grams so the spool is probally closer to 7-8 grams. Very similar to the zonda bfs spool so performance should be great.
