Actually I am field testing the Saltiga open conventional reel. I'm not a big proponent of spending hundreds of dollars more for a spinning reel, but in terms of conventionals to get a good drag, a lightweight anodized frame, complete machined refinement, and high strength gears it is not unread of ...

1) Good point on the top hit counter. We will make that a little more straitforward. The counter resets once a week.

2) Also a good point on the portal banner...but it got you looking right? :D

Testing the Saltiga

On the second day of field testing the new Saltiga from Daiwa. So far this reel is really impressive. I can get near 20lbs of drag pressure on her. I know its overkill but I used her for Salmon today and talk about muscle! I spanked that fish all the way in. Going to do casting tests tomorrow.

Salmon Fishing bite in Monterey is still not hot

Hi guys, Went Salmon fishing today in Monterey. Spent most of the day a few miles off the stacks, and with about of 16 people on the party boat only 2 fish were landed all day! Luckily one of those was mine, hooked into a good sized salmon from 70 feet down early in the day. Lost two more later in t...
