Re: Which Daiwa Frog Rod?

Several years back, I picked up a 7'4 Zillion Swimbait rod with the idea that I would use it to fish frogs in heavy slop. Not only does the rod have no tip whatsoever, the handle is too long for fishing frogs in my opinion. This from a guy who generally likes longer handles than most. Sold it shortl...

Re: Casting Rod and Walk The Dog

Don't know if you can find the 1st gen ( black ) cumaras. They have a medium and Heavy version of 6'3" rods. I use the medium for popper and finesse. heavy version for spook and other larger top waters. Very nice rods. I got them both when TW was clearing them out. X2! I bought the same rods last y...

Re: Kistler KLX or Powell Max?

Speaking of powell--by looking at Tackle warehouse powell has raised their prices $30.00 on their Endurance and Max rods--pretty big increase--have several Endurances--love them BUT--there are other rods in same quality level for less--JMO I am also disappointed with the price increase. However, wh...

Re: MajorCraft JP to US/AU Disparity

Could it be that the price increase reflects on these sticks factors what I assume to the higher cost of warranty and replacement service in the US? Although I have no facts to support it, I strongly suspect that the rate of rods returned in Japan because of breakage caused by user error is much low...

Love the combo. That might be the best looking MB I've seen.

Re: Koppers changes the game

I would not get a Koppers crank when they came out, the same thing for Lucky Craft, I convinced that a highly detailed finish on a crankbait wasn't required and for the most part it is true but there is something to it. I got a Koppers shallow diving bluegill crank in matte finish, not the square b...

Re: Koppers changes the game

Not too sure about this one. It sure doesn't appeal to me. Count me in the crowd who has a very hard time believing that this will actually appear to be multiple baitfish to bass when fished. :^o

Agreed. I've caught more fish on these than any other hardbait over the last 10 years or so.

How about one-time moderator KBookert?

And although we all learned that The Natural was a career criminal and hustler who belonged in prison, I always enjoyed reading his posts.

Someone mentioned lmartinez from California. I haven't seen him on the board forever.

Not to hijack, but is there any truth to the rumors circulating that the Max and Endurance are both increasing price?

Sometimes the opposite is true also since there are few industry standards and companies are always seeking to market their items to make them appear to be better than they are.

Looks pretty nice but I am disappointed that it looks so similar to the CI4. I'd like to see a to see a reel that isn't black or red just for the sake of variety.

Bantam1,

Wrapping Unicorn horn in Dragon skin will weaken it. Pure Unicorn horn is stronger.
My thanks to you for the most insightful comment in an otherwise unreadable thread. :D

Re: Top Waters/Split Rings?

It depends upon the bait and what I am trying to do with it. :) If I am trying to the walk the bait, I find split rings give the bait a wider range of motion and make it easier to walk. This year, I started putting split rings on my frogs too. So far, so good. I also like split rings on spitting pop...

Re: Daiwa's "New Species"

I am shocked to see the price of this reel based on the early speculation that this reel would be priced in the $200-$250 range. At least it seems that the lower MSRP actually reflects the lower cost of manufacturing in Thailand. In general, I tend to favor Daiwa when it comes to palmability, but I ...
