Could it be that the price increase reflects on these sticks factors what I assume to the higher cost of warranty and replacement service in the US? Although I have no facts to support it, I strongly suspect that the rate of rods returned in Japan because of breakage caused by user error is much low...

Not too sure about this one. It sure doesn't appeal to me. Count me in the crowd who has a very hard time believing that this will actually appear to be multiple baitfish to bass when fished.

Sometimes the opposite is true also since there are few industry standards and companies are always seeking to market their items to make them appear to be better than they are.
