Re: new evergreen rod?
I knew they were coming out with a new Jack Hammer rod a few months ago when I talked to Ben from THUT. I was asking why he didn't stock JDM Evergreen rods and he let the cat out of the bag by accident. It might be worth trying. There's not many rods out there for $450 that have titanium Fuji guides.

Re: Loomis NRX users: please help a guy out...
I have all of the NRX+'s that you mention, and for 1/2-5/8oz drop shot in current, hands down 872S. One of the best rods of all time for smallmouth. Honorable mentions go to the 902S, or possibly a Conquest 902S for deep dropshotting, however I know some folks don't like the more moderate taper tha...

Re: Need Daiwa JDM Reel Servicing Recs
Unfortunately JDM Daiwa reels that have Magsealed bearings are often non-serviceable outside of Japan. It's one of those inconvenient truths many have had to face when buying the less expensive JDM version and an issue arises. We've been a Daiwa Warranty and Executive Service Center for a long time...

Daiwa Customer Service
I was doing spring maintenance on a few reels and lost some small parts like bearing retaining clips being careless (I had a few beers). I called Daiwa this morning and they're sending them to me for free. I thought I would post this to show the kind of factory support you get from them. The reels w...

Re: Spy Bait Reel - High End
I ended up ordering the 21 Airity. I felt comfortable with the reel since I have the high speed version and I like how the gear ratio is 5.2 vs 5.7 on the Vanquish. There was a 10 cm difference in line per turn between the two. The shallow spool recommendation did pique my interest though. I see tha...

Re: Spy Bait Reel - High End
I'd have a hard time getting anything other than a 4000 certate. I really like that reel. I'm not a great Shimano fan, the bail arm looks too fine and the position of the bail is more touchy than Daiwas. My shimanos snap closed when I'm casting more frequently than my Daiwas when I've opened the ba...

Re: Spy Bait Reel - High End
Hijacking to ask a bait question. I forgot three baits where a thing until now. Are these any good early season after ice out up to pre spawn or are they more of a fall lure? Looking to add to my early season arsenal. High sun flat calm middle of Summer technique for me, and anytime you're dealing ...

Re: Spy Bait Reel - High End
It works year round. I really like it post cold front, prespawn for smallmouth when they are cruising. It seems like it out produces finesse swimbaits in that scenario.

Re: Spy Bait Reel - High End
I’m not sure I agree with the winding feel of Shimano being better than Daiwa. I had a Stella FJ 3000 and it wasn’t any smoother than any of the Daiwa Certate LTs I have. It might be a different story with the 22 Stella and 22 Exist, but I have a hard time believing it hands down better. I’m leaning...
